Excellent
A huge improvement in speeds and stability over the previous integrated Wi-Fi adaptor on my PC. Works out of the box on Linux, no manual driver install needed. I recommend forcing it to 5GHz for best speeds, this worked well for me even with two thick walls between the router and my desk.

100% Linux compatible
I been looking at moving to Linux from windows 10 because I don't what to.ude windows 11 when support drops for windows 10. On Linux this works out of box no driver install needed. On Win 10 you need to download 100 meg driver. Connect speed is about 1300 mbit. This should be fine for 1gbit internet connection.

Fantastic, stable wireless internet! Software not included.
Bought this when my property got upgraded to full-fibre broadband. Only problem was the socket was in the living room, while my PC was upstairs. So instead of running an ethernet cable all the way upstairs, I decided to go wireless. Made a false start by going for a smaller, cheaper unit initially. It was okay for a basic connection, but useless for video conferencing or gaming, so I looked for something with greater capability and found the Netgear Nighthawk. Fantastic bit of kit. I've had over a year of fairly stable, high bandwidth internet that allows me to play the latest online games, as well as giving clear audio & video during online meetings. It does lose connection very occasionally and its usually just a matter of unplugging it from the cradle for a few seconds, plugging it back it and pressing the WPS button to reconnect. A word of warning though - I did have to use my laptop to go to the Netgear website and download the software that lets you search for and connect to networks, transfer it to a flash drive, then copy it to my PC for installation. Which is a bit inconvenient.

Mis-sold. Utterly useless to Apple users, unless you run antediluvian OS10 !
Mis-sold - this is not Mac compatible. Utterly useless to Apple users, unless you run antediluvian OS10.8 – 10.15 or earlier ! Netgear's advice is: "Since the product software is only compatible with the Mac OS X 10.8.3 or later, we recommend you to return the product to point of purchase since we don't have any other option for it to be installed under Mac OS 11 or newer, we apologies for the inconvenience the product have caused you." Evidently the "or later" means something else to the company. It cannot be bothered to update and clarify its product info – this is a disgraceful lapse for such a fine producer.

Some drawbacks but it works very well
Yes it's a large beast and the magnetic base is a touch of madness - who wants that near their computer or display. But the speed for me is great x6 fold than the cheaper standard usb device I had in before. I now get 650 MHz download and 110 MHz upload. No longer necessary for me to use an unsightly cable to connect up my PC The packaging it arrived in was a little worrying. No shrink wrap even. Is it new or reconditioned? Installation choices not clear but follow the advice in the reviews and you'll get it up and running quickly. (I am on windows home 11)

Works as described - not as a good as standard VM hub
It works absolutely fine and the modem settings are highly customisable aswell as WiFi 6. However it has LESS WiFi coverage than the standard Virgin media super hub 6 which is what I purchased it to replace.

Does an excellent job, have had little to no problems with my wifi despite how garbage it is, near perfect other than some rare drops. You're certainly getting what you pay for. Pros: Excellent at mid range Easy setup Easy Software Most days i have no problems with my connection

I had no wi-fi driver on my computer. I downloaded the file and plugged it into the USB. I am a complete computer idiot and this worked like a charm. I now have wi-fi capability on my computer. Super slick.

Title: Excellent upgrade; reasonable price Description: The NETGEAR Nighthawk AX1800 (A7500) is a solid upgrade if you’ve got a desktop or older laptop with weak or outdated Wi-Fi. I noticed faster speeds, better range, and a more stable connection pretty quickly, especially for streaming and general everyday use. Setup on Windows 10 (as well as Windows 11, I assume) is straightforward, and it performs noticeably better than older USB Wi-Fi adapters. The added WPA3 security is also a nice bonus if you care about keeping your home network locked down. That said, the adapter is a bit on the bulky side and can crowd nearby USB ports, and a small number of users (myself included on occasion) have run into minor connection hiccups. Overall though, for the price, it’s a strong performer and does what it’s supposed to do.

I tested this dongle on Ubuntu 24.04.3 LTS with linux HWE kernel 6.14.0-36. Everything is working fine. I just had to add a udev rules to tell the driver mt7921u to use my device. I followed the instructions from morrownr github page about usb wifi dongle for Linux I still need to use it for a long time to check the stability. I can only tell for now the bandwith is very good.
