I started using the cheap ph and EC pens, and the worked okay, but I was having regular issues, and the calibration was very convoluted. In contrast, these BlueLab pens are awesome! The initial calibration was a breeze, and they have needed very little to no care other than keeping them clean. My only quibble is that the backlight on the pens times out a little on the quick side. Not a big issue, but it would be nice if there was a light button so the backlight could be turned back on. My advice to anyone getting into hydroponics or just in need of a ph and EC meeter, gust get BlueLab. Anything else is a waste of money, time, and ultimately frustration.

Packaging wasen't the greatest, It got shipped with some PH adjust that I ordered and the kit it comes in was thrown in a bigger box with the the bottles and had minimal packaging around it. Dont order with anything else to assure it arrives safe. So far ive had it for a month and done 50 samples maybe. Its told me to calibrate it (with a check mark display)only a few times after i got it. It was weird that i calibrated it with PH7 then PH 4 as directed, but after calibrating with PH4 it would display the checkmark again so i would have to calibrate it with PH7 to get the check mark to go away. Im happy, this is a great kit for a beginner like me. come with a small book about hydroponics in general and what PH is all about. Manuals are very informative and instructions are very clear. One thing i dont like is the lanyard for the cap on the PH meter, its kinda awkward to hold the cap and the meter while stirring your solution mix but ive kinda figured it out, using my index finger run thru the loop at the top and the cap in my palm. Manuals make it Very Clear about letting the bulb dry out , throw it out, this is a great kit. individual testers would be double this amount, i got this kit for $147. after much shopping.

I started with ordering the grower's toolbox at the very end of January -- it was delivered February 1st and the EC pen was dead before June 1st. I figured that it wasn't too serious, since sometimes these things happen and it should have a warranty. In the meantime, I decided I'd order a new EC pen since I have to make sure to feed my plants properly -- they're very picky. The new pen arrived within days and after thoroughly cleaning and rinsing, as instructed to before calibration, I attempted to calibrate the new EC pen. No dice. Tried cleaning and rinsing again -- nothing. I contacted Amazon and got a replacement sent (props to Dash for getting me taken care of quickly and painlessly), and tried to clean and calibrate the NEW EC pen...to absolutely no avail. Still getting "Er" code on the display. So it seems that no matter what I do, bluelab products are simply not worth the effort to try and use and DEFINITELY not worth the cost. It's a shame, really, because I feel like I remember their products actually working when I first started using them 3 years ago or so. I will be looking for a new manufacturer for my plant feed analysis products and highly recommend that anyone reading this review does the same! Edit: I managed to get in touch with customer service and they were not happy to hear about my dissatisfaction. The representative went out of her way to set me up with new solutions to calibrate pH and EC. Sent express directly to me from the manufacturer instead of an Amazon warehouse, so they actually worked. She also called me to follow up a few days later and asked if the solutions worked or if they needed to send a new pen. The level of dedication totally changed my mind about bluelab.

We ordered this for our aquariums (we have 300). Upkeep on this item is simple, easy, and really nice to use. Everything about our purchase has been smooth, with quick shipping, and easy set-up. The calibration process is straightforward and the item is spot on with measurements. I think everyone that is into fish or aquaculture of any type should invest in these. They work, just like the should. We are very pleased to have this in our lives.

Id rather use drops that are less accurate but i can trust, than a pen thats "more accurate" but i cant trust. The PH pen came with a bad tip. I spent days fiddling with it to try and figure out what i was doing wrong. I finally contacted support and they asked for a photo of the pen in each calibration solution. I sent it to them. Then they asked for a video of me calibrating it but i had already run out of the very limited amount of calibration solution that they gave me (one packet to calibrate it when i got it, and another packet to calibrate it when they asked). So i shelled out the money for more calibration solution so i could send them the video they want. While i was waiting i decided to read some amazon reviews and reddit posts. I found post after post of people being sent bad tips. Apparently they dump their old stock through amazon and just replace tips for anyone who complains (after you buy more solution to show them proof). Between this and the fact that you need to constantly maintainance and calibrate the tip to get accurate readings, id rather just use the drops. EC pen works fine though

Excellent product after first grow pH meter was not calibrating contacted blue lab talk to Blue lab associate great customer service asked for a picture of the serial number and receipt to my Amazon purchase after submitting it to an email and showing a picture of pH meter in great condition blue lab was more than happy to replace it under the 1-year warranty thank you again blue lab

Both pH and EC probes work flawlessly. Just make sure to follow the calibration and maintenance steps to increase the longevity of these probes. Only ever had issues with cheaper pH probes and I can already tell the difference that quality makes. Just make sure you take care of them and they will take care of you.

Good product

Bought for my Venus fly trap and other carnivorous plants as well as cactus plants. Very very accurate and good Backlit displays. So after seeing a friend I thought I’d get mine. They arrived from the eu. The ph pen was totally dry and sponge was all but gone with crystallised solution. The EC pen worked fine and calibrated well. The ph pen after soaking in solution for 24 hours as expected followed by the provided sachets for just two calibrations didn’t work. It calibrated as 7 on PH 7 sachet but didn’t calibrate in ph 4 thinking it’s still in ph 7. I tried everything blulab suggest but it wasn’t stored correctly and so the bulb was destroyed as a result. I’ve contacted blulab. No option to do so on here.

Spendere quasi 200€ per un prodotto dove mancano i componenti e vergognoso, pensavo che comprare marchi rinomati fosse sinonimo di garanzia, ma a quanto pare mi sbagliavo. Quando riavrò ricevuto l articolo per intero e avrò avuto modo di provarlo forse cambierò la mia recensione, ma per il momento esperienza veramente negativa!!!!

Sehr genaue Messwerte, wenn man das Gerät so behandelt wie es in der Anleitung steht. Ich kann die schlechten Rezensionen nicht nachvollziehen. Vermutlich wurde der PH PEN nicht 24h lang vor der Erstinbetriebnahme in der Lösung aufbewahrt bzw. die Lösung wurde zur Aufbewahrung nicht in die Kappe getan. Bei richtiger Behandlung klappt das Gerät echt super. Leider ist der EC PEN für meinen Geschmack etwas zu grob. Eine Nachkommastelle ist erschreckend wenig, dafür ist er aber trotzdem sehr genau
