Useful. A fountain pen with a standard cartridge but I can't find the converter. It's different with its description.

Having never heard of Schneider fountain pens before, the only reason I ended up buying one was on account of the looks of this pen, which seemed like a nice alternative to the overrated Lamy Safari. And to my pleasant surprise, this Schneider Base fountain pen turned out to be briliiant! It's reasonably well made out of ABS plastic, and seems like a very-well engineered pen. It started writing well straight out of the box with minimal fuss, getting into its stride far sooner that some of it's fancied German cousins like Lamy and Faber-Castell, whose pens sometimes take ages to get going. The nib is very typical of Europen Medium nibs, that writes on the broader side of Medium, and is a beautifully designed, minimalistic nib that is not only very smooth, but a very reliable writer. The grip is very thoughtfully designed with a gentle cleft on the underside to allow your middle finger to rest underneath, and is very well balanced when posted. The nib is the shining star of this pen, and I rate the nib of this pen to be far superior to even the Lamy Z50 M nib, which owing its mass production, seems to have very poor quality control nowadays. There is no scratchiness, and all you get is a beautifull feedback that just encourages you to write more, and faster. While the Pilot Metropolitan is always there, at this price point, I can't think of a better engineered German fountain pen, and I am saying this after having used and tested the Faber-Castell WRITink too, which turned out to be a very disappointing entry-level pen. Save for the rather in-your-face clip design, I can't find any flaws in this pen. And to sweeten the deal, Schneider prices its cartridges very reasonably,, and you can get a pack of 15 x 6 cartridges for a very reasonable price, making this tremendous value for money! While the Pilot Metropolitan and Lamy Safari always figure in the Top 5 recommended entry-level fountain pens, I see no reason why this brilliant Schneider Base also should not be included in that list. Pound-for-pound, it deliverys far better value than it's much-vaunted German cousin - the Lamy Safari - and is quite simply, probably the most underrated pen around!
