We have had the dehumidifier only 5 days so too early to comment on reliability, but with a 2 year warranty we aren't concerned. It was purchased to replace an ancient ebac and so far has worked incredibly well, extracting far more water than the old one had. The unit is well designed with clean, uncluttered lines and simple controls. It is quieter than the compressor models but I wouldn't want to sleep with one running in the bedroom as it does produce fan noise. In the first 36 hours it extracted 9 litres of water from two rooms. Part of our house has solid stone walls and is subject to condensation especially during the winter months and the windows are dry. Although it doesn't come with castors the machine is very lightweight and is easily moved around the house as needed making it a very convenient addition to keeping the home warm and dry. My only regret is that I didn't spend a bit more and get the model with the bacterial filter and ioniser. That's not to say that we aren't very satisfied with our purchase. We have previously bought several Ebac models - with varying levels of reliability and efficiency, but so far we are very impressed with the efficiency of desiccant dehumidifiers. Update: 14.08.2018 The dehumidifier is still going strong. We bought another one 2 years ago to use for drying laundry primarily - our house is kind of spread out and it was too big a job for one machine - and the new one is still going strong too. The one we bought in 2014 is in use every day for around 6-12 hours, depending on the time of year, and we never have condensation on our windows in even the coldest weather, and no black mould on window frames or around window openings - where solid walls have contact with the outer cold air and inner warm air. Very impressed with the machines to the extent that I am buying another one for my son to use in flat to dry laundry etc. Not the cheapest but very effective and, so far, reliable

This is in my opinion the only low(ish) cost domestic dehumidifier that works efficiently and reliably in UK's climate and in unheated areas. I use it for an unheated annex and actually bought another one for double garage area. Minor gripe, on an initial run from new, there is a very faint smell of plastic/styrene, but it does go away after dehumidifier has been used for 7-10 days. I actually did a "beauty contest" with another EcoAir compressor dehumidifier rated at 20l/day that I considered to be quite efficient until I bought DD322FW. At 14-16 deg C and 50%-60% RH, the DD322FW (dessicant type, rated 10l/day) extracted 2.5 times more water than the compressor one rated 20l/day did, both using the same power!. I prefer the Simple controls (mechanical humidistat) as you can put dehumidifier on timer and run it only at night in summer, when it is cooler and humidity is more of a problem. I run it all day now that the fog is upon us :) in autumn-winter-spring . Also, electronic controls failed after 2-3 years on my previous two dessicant dehumidifiers (earlier models similar to DD122FW). Also, DD322FW dehumidifier has a simple washable filter which again is good for long term maintenance (no extra costs) For in-house (heated) use, or for humidity control above 80%RH, compressor dehumidifier might be as good as DD322FW in the UK, but in my opinion right now nothing beats dessicant dehumidifiers when it comes to keeping unheated areas dry and garage rust prevention (RH below 60%). And of course there is no ice build-up at low temps with dessicant type dehumidifiers. The only real drawback is that the price is quite steep for a dessicant dehumidifier, 3-4 years ago they used to be 20%-30% less expensive. But it is worth it, in fact if you use it a lot below 15deg C it will pay the price difference to a compressor dehumidifier of the same power within 2-3 months in reduced electricity bills.

My garage, which I use as a workshop, is detached so gets no residual heat from the house, and two walls are partially below soil level so it is inherently subject to damp. I have installed this dehumidifier in it together with a small convector heater to stop the humidity rising to dew point level and so protect my tools and machines. This dehumidifier is very suitable for the purpose because (1) it will work at temperatures down to 1 deg C, (2) it has a variable humidistat which can be set to a higher level than would be acceptable in a house but which will still prevent dew formation, (3) it can be turned on and off from the mains without damage, so it can run off a smart switch set to keep it active from dusk to dawn when the risk of high humidity is greatest, and (4) when it has reached its target humidity it powers down into sleep mode with the fan off and consuming practically no electricity, and continues like that until the humidity rises again and it it switches itself back on. I can see from the readings on the smart switches ( TP-Link HS110, HS110 bought at a reasonable price on Black Friday) that this approach is going to add quite a bit to my electicity bill, but short of rebuilding the garage with better insulation and draught proofing it is the best I can do. Returning to the point of this review, the EcoAir DD322 Simple is I believe the best dehumidifier for this job, and indeed most others I can think of that requires a dehumidifier.

I am amazed how much water is collected in this machine - every day it is full. I needed it for upstairs as the North facing windows were dripping with water each morning and I had trouble with mold. I cleaned all the mold off the walls and windows and turned the machine on. It is on the upstairs landing and is on permanently at the moment. The windows no longer swim with water and hopefully the mold will not return. It is quiet, sounding like a fan when on half or full speed. At night, because of the proximity of the bedrooms I turn it to low and it does not disturb anyone sleeping. I did ask a builder about dry lining the walls, and he suggested trying a dehumidifier first for my Victorian house as we do not have cavity walls. I am happy to say that up to the present it is working well. You need a bit of space around it and a plug on the landing. The air that blows out of the fans at the top is slightly warm when on half speed - which surprised me. I have a thermostat on the landing which was affected by this, but am moving the dehumidifier around to see where it does not affect the temperature.

I have now had the ecoair running for several weeks in the utility room, which is in our cellar and tends to damp. It has done an excellent job of reducing the humidity. It is about as noisy as a very quiet hair dryer - so in other words it can clearly be heard. I would prefer a quieter solution, but am not able to judge if the ecoair is quieter than other models - though reading the reviews implies it is at the quieter end. The 2 weaknesses for me are firstly, the continuous outlet to the drain, which means you don't need to manually empty the water every day, is at ground level. The consequence of this is that the unit has to be raised above floor level for it to drain properly. In my case I have to put it on a box 30cm high. This is not ideal as I prefer not to have unnecessary clutter. It would be better if the eater tank was situated higher within the unit to avoid this problem. Secondly there is no hydrometer display. This would be a great addition because you can turn the dial to raise or lower the humidity level at which the ecoair will kick in and start lowering the humidity. For controlling mould, one needs to maintain humidity at 55% or below, as I have read. But there is no indication on the dial of the level of humidity each position maintains. This is important because if the dial is set too aggressively, it may be constantly running to maintain a level of e.g. 45%, consuming electricity unnecessarily. That being said, a £5 hygrometer does the job

I chose this model because of positive reviews and I am thrilled with it. I have 2 classic cars in a double garage and this machine is set on a timer to operate between 10pm and 8 am. It is very simple to set the relative humidity and power. I have it set at about 45% RH and on Eco mode.It has made an incredible improvement. Garage feels much drier and cars are shiny with no damp bloom. Seats used to be damp but are now dry. I empty about 2 litres of water very easily from the bowl every day, so the machine is doing a good job. If I was away on holiday I could use the external drainage facility which is simple. This is an excellent, efficient product which is simple to setup and use. Follow up customer care very efficient and friendly with helpful contact details for any queries or support. I highly recommend this product.

OMG I had no idea what a game changer using a dehumidifier to dry washing would be (thank you Martin Lewis for talking about this as a money saver). So long as you can afford it in the first instance. After quite a bit of research and finding the model I had chosen was out of stock I picked this model. The room I dry my washing has a lot of glass which is great when it's sunny but on a dull day even with the heating on be quite cool. I chose a desicant dehumidifier which works at much lower temperatures, is quieter and lighter with no pump, with the added bonus it creates low level heat as it removes moisture from the air. This is a compact unit, perfect if you are short on space, it doesn't have wheels but for most people it will be light enough when empty to carry to where you need it. It was unboxed and working in minutes, simple turn the dial to washing and set the fan to high. I have my airer close to the radiator and with the dehumidifier unit blowing through the airer at the wet clothes, pretty much as close as I can get it. On my first attempt I had the fan pointing up, but the lower rails didn't dry as fast, now I have the vents aimed pretty much straight and find the whole airer gets the breeze the fan creates. If you have two airers set them up so the fan blows through both. The only noise is the air from the fan on high this is noticeable and the occasional gurgle of water. One load of washing used to take 24 hours to dry, now in the same location using this dehumidifier set to washing with the fan on high it's dry in 2-2.5 hours depending on the fabric. I just turn the washing after the first hour to speed the process up. If I remember i have been using an extra spin cycle to reduce the water espcially towels and sheets. It is brilliant and so simple to use, I have't tried it for a damp room as it was bought soley for washing but I can see how it would really quickly reduce the moisture. I am not noticing much change in my usual background spend on electricity which I do notice immediately if I use my old tumble dryer. Plus it creates warmth when the washing is drying so you get a bit of extra heat in the room think a spring breeze. The only thing to bear in mind as this is a chemical reaction to remove the water the first 24 hours it smelt new, that disappeared after a few hours operation, I would suggest use in an empyty room just when it's first operated, after that it's fine. The water caddy is easy to remove and has a carry handle or if you have a suitable location you can stand it on a counter and use the continuous drain pipe. It easily does several loads of washing before you need to empty the water so it's not a burden to empty it manually. I am a total convert, not having wet washing hanging around drying for days is just brilliant, it's cheap to run. Seriously just go for it and next week you will be telling your friends and family to get one.

Well these work great, flawless even. However both of ours have broken about 1 month outside their 2 year warranty. We had ensured we looked after them well, keeping the filters clean and away from the walls. So if you like appliances that are not built to last and need replacing every 2 years, these are fine. Otherwise I would try and find a more reliable brand.
