Vtech's line of switch and go toys are the perfect alternative to transformers for younger kids. The 3-in-1 can be a little difficult to snap the upper body onto the lower body so this one may require assistance from an adult. It's still a great toy as 3 separate pieces. The 2-in-1 set is much easier for little kids to do on their own. Overall these toys and far less complicated than actual transformers toys so they are all still great toys for kids ages 4 - 6

Bought this for my nephew and he loved playing with it. Especially in T-Rex mode. He is rough on toys so it's nice to see something that is some what durable. The only concern is the LCD window on the Police car, which he enjoys slamming into things. I recommend making sure that the windshield of the Police Car is down to protect the LCD and minimize chances of any damage. The only downside is that this toy is top heavy in T-Rex mode. Unless you have the T-Rex in a just right pose this will topple over, a lot. Still if it does the toy is able to stand up to it. As for transformation. It takes trial and error, on paper it's easy and simple but the hardest parts are the connection of the helicopter to the fire engine. As you have to line things up just right to get them to snap together. Other than that not hard to disassemble and nephew is able to pick up on how to transform the three vehicles into T-Rex mode.

For whatever reason when these things dropped I started collecting em like crazy. I just couldn't get enough of em. This guy is as big as a house cat and sturdy as a tank. I don't recommend this but imo if you took an actual shotgun to the head of this thing it would bounce off the plastic and into wall. I have had him fall over and take a tumble down 2 flights of stairs and he's still in pristine condition. 10/10 extremely satisfied

While this toy looks SO cool, it is actually really challenging to put together. The body part which is the helicopter has to be put just right into the bottom part and it fits within a small slot. If it is turned or put in slightly off, it doesn’t work. But it also doesn’t latch securely, so it’s very easy to knock back out of the slots. I wanted to love this but it was difficult for even me to put together! It was given to my 5 year old who is very very good with transformers and he just got so frustrated with it. The sounds are super cool, the put together Rex is awesome. It is a very fun toy, it just isn’t very sturdy when put all together. It is also top heavy, so the top tries to pull down. I wish it was just a bit more user friendly. The pieces all separate are kind of cool. I think in reality the idea of it is better than what it is. We have a ton of v tech and this is the least favorite. It was expensive too for what you get!

Kid loved it in pieces and all put together. Adult children (dad and uncle) loved it more. Would recommend for geeky men aged 30+

Great toy. My only issue is that some of the plastic parts where they clip together weren't holding well at all. I had to bend the one under the jaw so it would hold. As well as the fire truck has a part that doesnt clip in properly. Other then that this toy is great. It says 4+ but I got it for my two year old (and me) hes loves it no small parts or anything to worry about with choking
