Great stuff, not very durable, but it still works a year in.
I've put this thing through the ringer. I'm a cyclist, weightlifter, and general active person, and I use this with my headphones, IEMs, whatever else. This thing is falling apart. But it's still works. That's what matters. I will say that the volume buttons have stopped working, but a little super glue saved one end from falling off. It's made of some kind of very lightweight metal, and it hasn't dented. This does not have Bluetooth. It is in fact extremely small. It fits in just about any setup. Also, important to note, you only really need a USB 2.0 connection. It connects via USB-C. Linux users don't need to worry, there's a Linux CLI application which lets you change all the settings very easily. The Android app works great. For people who want way over kill stuff for their audio in a ridiculously small package, this is extremely effective. Highly recommend.

Excellent DAC, especially for the price
This DAC is really good for the price. It is small enough to everyday carry, and with the aluminum case it's sturdy enough too. I have been using it with my phone and PC for a long time now, and it sounds excellent. Never given me a single problem. It can drive every headphone I've thrown at it. I was delighted that it just works, plug and play on Linux. Excellent product!

Astounding sound, with one caveat
This device has made an astounding difference in the music stored on my phone. I ripped all my CDs to FLAC files during covid and have them stored on an SD card on my phone. When this device is utilized in conjunction with the USB Audio Music Player, music is going to be as good as it gets on a phone device. But a couple of things will determine just how good it does sound. First, your headphones. Cheap 20 dollar headphones are not going to deliver quality sound. However, if you are on a budget, the Koss KPH40 Utility On-Ear Headphones offered here on Amazon deliver surprisingly good sound for the price. Otherwise, decent headphones can be had for a hundred dollars, just read reviews to make that decision. Good headphones make all the difference. Second, your music format makes a huge difference. Those 128kbps MP3s are tightly compressed and just do not deliver the sound that FLAC files do. Yeah, I know it sounds confusing, but if you want your stored music to sound good, it makes a huge difference. If you stream your music, it's much better. That solves a lot of problems for you. Streamed music comes alive with this device. The Moondrop Dawn plays DSD/DSF files beautifully, if you have any of them. Not many people do, but for those that have them, this device shines. I do hesitate giving the Moondrop Dawn 5 stars, but that's not due to the sound. The C USB adapter that comes with the device is pretty frail. The connecting cable is thin and may easily be damaged or broken. They way our phones get tugged and pulled while running or moving about can be taxing on cables. Amazon offers a 10 dollar C USB to C USB cable that is robust and stout. For an extra 10 dollars, you can stop worrying about the connecting cable to your phone. It's worth the money. The cable I recommend is bright yellow and hard to miss in your Amazon search results. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CWGSGNSH?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title&th=1 This device vastly improves the sound quality of music on your phone, and for the price, you cannot beat what it delivers.

Great DAC for you phone and mobility.
Nice DAC for the money super light and powerful. Headphone jack has normal power but there is a slight boost with the 4.4mm connections for richer sound. Controls are clear. Sound is great. Doesn't appear to be a battery hungry device and will run for hours on my iphone.

Get this, forget the rest.
This thing is tiny, has tons of amplification power, and the sound quality is pretty great. I'm someone who has paid upwards of $900 for dacs and I say don't bother with anything above this price point. Dac don't make a big difference until you're spending in the thousands. This $40 dac is perfectly adequate even for me. I listen to anything from jazz to death metal. It made eveything much cleaner, especially very harsh recordings like Death's "Leprosy" album, without the dac, the treble makes my ears bleed on high volume, with this dac, the treble was much smoother and easier to listen, it was actually quite shocking considering it's ao cheap. I'm going to stop here, I don't need any better.

Amazing DAC for the money!
I’ve been using it since I bought it. Does what it says on the product description. You need to know how to use other OSes to change some settings if you’re only using Apple devices. Not an issue for me, but could be a problem for others. With the right headphones, speakers, etc. I think it is well worth the price. Haven’t bothered with the balanced output as of now. It sounds just fine with the standard 1/8” (3.5mm) jack to my ears. So far its build quality is pretty decent and it is very portable. The long press functionality for frequency filters is not always noticeable… but that’s what equalization is for. I don’t seem to use EQ very much with it, but we all have different tastes and process sound differently. I’m digging the “ChiFi” products which I have purchased. Pairs well with the MoonDrop Blessing 3 IEMs. As the saying goes, “Your mileage may vary.” No bluetooth connectivity, and if that’s a problem, you’re probably not the intended audience.

The Best Dac Dongle With a Caveat
A fantastic performing device, rich in detail and clarity for IEMs as well as low impedance full size headphones. Very cool look and design with lights under the machined holes that indicate playback quality. The only problem is quality control. My original unit rattled and eventually shorted or something and would no longer function so I had to painstakingly return for a different unit. This unit has no rattle I've used it about 250 hours no problem. Joshua Valor of YouTube audiophile fame reviewed a unit with a rattle but praised it for how amazing it sounds for the price point. He only docked it for the rattle which isn't supposed to be there I realized after receiving my second unit. There's a big quality control issue here and many rattling defective units are being sent out to customers. But if you can get a proper unit without the defect this beats every other dac/Amp dongle I've ever tried, punching way above its weight class. Just if you order one be prepared for an arduous return process if your unit is one of the defective ones. Were it not for this problem I'd given it 5 stars.

Faulty Cable, Glitches, and Broken Buttons
The included USB C cable caused the DAC to randomly disconnect from my phone. So, I went ahead and purchased a new cable and the problem went away completely, okay fine... Then, after about a week of use, I started getting periods where audio would crackle and become distorted. Disconnecting and reconnecting from my phone would temporarily resolve this for an hour or so. Seemed to be an issue with the High Gain mode as turning the amp to Low Gain mode in the Moondrop software fixed this issue indefinitely, okay fine... Finally, today I went to use the volume button and the button just fell/collapsed into the shell, so now I can't turn the volume down, unless I use the software... It's sad because, when it works the sound quality is great and definitely punches above its class. I want to use it, love it, and have it be my daily audio companion. Unfortunately, the build quality and QC is apparently where they cut costs to get it priced the way is.
