there really isn't a fragrance but it does leave a clean smell i hope that this helps

is it ok to use on color-treated hair

Sorry but I do not know if it will work on color treated hair, because I bough it to use in my dad's hair. Nevertheless I can imagine that it will not harm your scalp neither the hair because the liquid in the cap is very light. My dad's hair came out very clean and soft after I used the cap on him.
