Few things in life can be relied upon, but the drama, humour and wildly disparate personalities of Doc Martin and Portwenn are always guaranteed to bring joy to viewers everywhere. As we join the Doctor in this eighth series, we find his relationship with his wife Louisa back on a more even keel, although juggling their jobs with baby care is proving more challenging daily. Meanwhile Bert and Al Large face challenges of their own, with brewing whisky and running a B&B not quite turning out as they had hoped; Mrs Tishell suffers a terrible and unexpected setback in her life; and Penhale, already facing romantic challenges, faces a mini crime spree and decides to host a Police Open Day. Newcomers to the village include a new curate as well as Morwenna’s parents, Jack and Tara who worked as missionaries in Kenya; and the village sees the return of Beth, the American tourist and veterinarian Angela Sim. And swimming through the maelstrom of it all is Doctor Ellingham, suffering humanity’s foibles with little tolerance and suffering literally with a newly adopted dog, against his better judgment, underfoot Review: Pure Quality - Perfectly pitched; the on again off again had been played out (in style), but the direction of the show is altered here and altered for the better. Top quality entertainment as usual. Review: Great Series and scenery - I have watched the series from the beginning and love the scenery so much so we spent a weeks holiday in Port Isaac! A series that is always good, if a little bit exaggerated in life plots, but nevertheless entertaining. If only all GP's were like that. I would put up with the rudeness to know that I was being able to see a GP face to face ,a rarity in these days and actually taken seriously with a proper diagnosis. The addition of his children is a great and the little boy is so cute, what a great little actor.

Entertainment at its very best
I've recently been unwell and unfortunately confined to bed for several weeks, but my illness was made very much more bearable by watching the Doc Martin DVD's. I'm lucky enough to own the entire series, and have watched every episode several times; but although I know them almost by heart, I still laugh again and again. The script and the acting by all the characters is excellent, but Martin Clunes is in a class of his own - truly superb. I believe the 10th and final series is being filmed at the moment, and I can't wait for it to become available on DVD. Thoroughly first-class entertainment.

Return to form
Work prevents me from seeing the Doc on TV so the DVD purchase is always a necessity. Contrary to one of the reviews on here I actually thought Series 8 was a real Tour De Force and a return to form for Doc Martin. The last couple of series had possessed darker tones and become bogged down in the marital strife of the Ellinghams but I found myself roaring with laughter throughout this series. It was reminiscent of the lighter shades present in the early seasons. The moment during the finale' where PC Penhale hurriedly brings the Doc bottles of water for the emergency procedure during the tribunal saying, "I didn't know if you wanted sparkling or still Doc" caused me to spit my coffee down my shirt in hysterics. I'm still trying to remove the stain....great fun.

Sooo good
Having seen the whole series on Danish tv we knew that seeing it again what a must so last year I bought season seven and this year I bought season 1 to 6 + season eight for my wifes birthday. Soo funny, lost of laughs, we enjoyed seeing it all again, but to be true the picture quality of season eight was appallingly bad. We enjoyed the episodes, yes but good grief, I can’t believe that Amazon smells this at full price as the picture quality is about average to a veeery old VHS tape. Buy it for the show alone ‘cause while you are watching it you’ll enjoy it so much that you forget about it... promise.

Great product but poor delivery time
The product itself was fine, no issues. But it seemed to take a long time to arrive and meanwhile I felt I needed to buy another while I waited for it. I paid for same day delivery so it was additional cost to me.

Se amate Doc non rimarrete delusi
Anche la serie 8 non delude le aspettative, personaggi adorabili, english humour e i paesaggi marini di Portwenn, buon divertimento!

Be sure to check that DVDs are playable in the USA and Canada
I ordered this DVD as new and fulfillment was from England which is "Region 2" playable and not here. I returned it and ordered a used DVD that was Region 1 and it works as expected.
