Portal Games 51st State Ultimate Edition by, Strategy Board Game

An excellent, easy to learn game with fantastic art work portraying a dystopian post apocalyptic world via deck building & resource management. There was some confusion as to inclusions based on YouTube research of the box with 4 new factions not included (I think these were included with Kickstarter versions). Nevertheless, high quality downloadable print versions are accessible to gain access to these. Heaps of expansions are included providing room to evolve with the game beyond the base set.

Have you played Imperia Settlers; Emipres of the North and enjoyed it? You would like this one too; Factions are not that asymmetrical compared to Settlers but fun enough to consider having both games in your collection. The price was also good.

Me encanta el juego. Es un "must buy" para los fans de los euros medianos, si te gusta la temática. Nada más tomen en cuenta que es la Ultimate Edition "light", o sea sólo vienen tableros de 4 facciones. NO es la versión completa de Gamefound. A mí no me importa, porque lo conseguí con descuento y con lo que trae (6 expansiones) sí es suficiente para mí. Jala bien a 1 y 2. No sé, si lo jugaría con más.

After having a great time playing Empires of The North, I wanted to play 51st State, but worried that it wouldn't be as fun with its post-apocalyptic theming. While Empires of The North is bright, colorful with cheery character art, 51st State portrays the wasteland as dark, cutthroat, and desperate. However, 51st State has a hilarious rulebook which keeps the mood light, hopeful, and FUN! It is easy to see why most people who enjoy Empires also enjoy 51st State. Empires of The North took me a long time to fully grasp (7 months), but once I understood how to play, I realized that turns are quick and simple. Well, 51st State was designed by the same artist, and is very similar to Empires of The North with a few differences: 1)51st State is a richer play due to its depth and layered actions on cards. 2)51st State requires Razing the locations belonging to opponents to get ahead, and has plenty of "take that." While I generally avoid bringing aggressive games to the table, I don't feel bothered by the take that energy of this game--there's plenty to go around for everyone to enjoy, and simultaneous turns mean this game moves too quickly to whine over losses. 51st State is one of the best games I've ever played, and I highly recommend it! 51st State Ultimate has several expansions included, making this highly replayable!
