From the Publisher The explosive sequel to the internationally bestselling thriller The Housemaid by Freida McFadden, The Housemaid's Secret is an unbelievably twisty read about the secrets kept at the dark heart of a family. Review: This is a superb thriller - “The Housemaid’s Secret” by Freida McFadden is a superb book. It is a continuation of her prior thriller “The Housemaid.” Readers who missed the preceding volume will still enjoy this one, even if they haven't read it. Anything that they need to know is told in this tale. This thriller is about a poor woman with a history of ten years in jail for a murder she did not commit. She did kill a man, but it was self-defense. The man was threatening to kill a woman he had been abusing. The jury at her trial did not believe the truth. As a result, she had difficulty finding a job as an ex-con. She worked as a maid. But on the side, he helped many abused women and got a reputation among those whom she helped. She receives a call from a wealthy man to come work at his penthouse. He told her his wife is very ill and she should not try to speak to her. When she sees blood on the floor, she approaches the woman, who tells her she has been brutalized repeatedly by her husband. She decides to help. However, as in all Freida McFadden thrillers, what appears to be true is not necessarily true; good people may be bad, and bad people may be good. There are always twists and turns in the thriller, with plenty of red herrings. Readers will enjoy this book. Review: great author - good but the first book was better, kind of predictable but does have a good twist.

As good as the Housemaid
The Housemaid’s Secret was just as addictive if not better than the first book. The tension builds quickly, and the pacing kept me glued to the pages. Every chapter added another layer of suspense, and the twists had me questioning everything until the very end. Freida McFadden does an amazing job of keeping the story dark, unpredictable, and impossible to put down. A must read for anyone who loves fast paced psychological thrillers.

Millie strikes again!!
Millie is at it again! She’s determined to aid the downtrodden and abused. Her life’s mission has become helping those in bad situations, even if Enzo is not there to assist. Apparently he’s returned to Italy to help his mother. She’s heartbroken but determined to rebuild her life. She’s got a new boyfriend (who wants to be in a serious, committed relationship) and she’s been offered a new job. She finds that committed to someone is difficult when you don’t want to tell them the truth. Or when you can’t be honest about who and what you are. However, when things get sticky, and she really needs help, she discovers that Enzo has returned to the US and has been secretly watching her. And when her boyfriend, who has no idea of her colorful past discovers the truth, he abandons her and sweet Enzo is there to pick up the pieces. To be honest, he is the only person that believes in her innocence and who wants to prove she isn’t responsible for a horrible crime, where all the clues point to her. As the story unfolds, we find that everything is not as it appears, and the innocent aren’t as innocent as she assumed. The Housemaid’s Secret has the usual McFadden elements: Twists and turns. Told from the first person perspective. Each character provides their own view of what is happening around them (i.e., how they see the world). Gorgeous men and women with serious issues. Some hints at abuse. People with ulterior motives. Lots of money involved. And tons of betrayal and deceit. Overall, this was a decent story. Very entertaining especially if you like the Housemaid’s secret. And since I have also read “The housemaid’s Wedding” (before this one, which was out of order), this story totally makes sense. I will read the last and final installment soon.

Freida McFadden NEVER Misses! ❤️
Going into this book, I was concerned that it would not live up to the first one in the series. The first half of Part I was a little slower/dragged a bit, but I am so grateful that I powered through, because the twists and turns that followed were INSANE. Every time I thought I had figured the story out, new information unearthed, and I quickly realized that I had no idea what was coming up until the final pages. I’ve seen conflicting opinions on whether the first book is better than this one or not, but I feel as though I can confidently say that the shock factor and uncertainty of “The Housemaid’s Secret” has to be a winner for me. Once again, another 5-star book for Freida McFadden!

If you haven't read The Housemaid, read that book first. This is the 2nd of 3.
If you haven't read The Housemaid by Freida McFadden, do yourself a favor and read that one first. This is the 2nd book of 3 and just like the first book it is exciting, full of surprises and will keep you entertained. I love Freida McFadden's books. She never disappoints and has such a great skill at coming up with new subjects to write about.

Honest review
This book was very very good, I didn’t expect half of the things that happened which is something I usually can’t say for most books. The ending made me beyond happy and I CAN NOT wait to read the next book of the series, it truly is wonderful 🤩
