PRECISION PET Chicken Nesting Pads by Petmate, 13" x 13", 10 Pack, Beige

These are definitely chicken friendly. When you take the mats out of the package they are flat. I slightly fluff them and the girls fluff them up to their personal preference for a softer nest. The eggs stay so much cleaner. When necessary I will take the pads out of the nesting boxes to shake off any debris and then put them back in. They last longer than straw or shavings. They seem to last quite a while if you occasionally shake them off. I also used one for a convalescing chicken by making her a soft bed in a laundry basket. It worked great. Super easy to dispose of them. I remove the paper backing, throw it away and the put the nesting material in our compost bin. This is a win win for me and the chickens.

This is a great nesting material. Nice and comfortable. Very easy to use and last. Easy to remove as there is a paper backing.

I realy realy like these alot. They feel natural Not to thick and not to thin. It does pull apart easily if your being rough and in a hurry. If you take your time to separate and lay in nesting boxs there good. Also I love that you can kinda mold them to how you want them in your boxs. They have no odor Easily to clean My hens love them. Great for the price Gets the job done

I only received nine of these pads (took them out to triple count), but I did like how thick they are. They come with a thin recycled looking paper attached to the bottom which is nice because then they don't stick together and it helps hold each pad together a bit more. They weren't wrapped in plastic and didn't contain any company branded paper as pictured and came loose, perfectly fitted in a plain brown box which is a win for me - less packaging seems like something I should get more behind! These are pretty thick (maybe almost a half an inch). I thought about trying to separate each into two pads, but chose not to because I thought I'd probably ruin them and make a mess. I can't speak to how the chickens like them quite yet as I only just now added them to my nesting boxes, but they look nice in there, fill the box well (my boxes are about an inch smaller these pads and the edges fold up nicely on the lower edge of the walls without looking too bulky or odd), don't smell weird, and look like they will protect the eggs well. Fingers crossed my chickens like them and this helps inspire them to start laying soon!

I ordered these because we were having trouble keeping the straw in the nesting boxes. These seemed an extravagance, but due to the excellent reviews, I decided to give them a try. I love them and have reordered a couple of times. They last about 3-4 months for my hens. We have 9 hens and 5 nesting boxes. When they are dirty beyond easy cleaning (picking it up and shaking it off), you just take it out and put in a new one. The old one goes in the compost! No nasty straw gathering it's clean in one swoop and the hens seem to approve. I have been using them about 18 months.

Perfect size for my nesting boxes. Durable, last for months. These are my girls favorite. I tried the rubber one, fake grass ones too and they don't like them. These are the preferred ones. Easy to cut to size if needed.

Not as pleased as other pade I have purchased in amazon. These pads do not last nearly as long. They fall apart quickly. My girls didn't care for them at first. I will be returning to previous brand I used.
