Genuine Toyota Oil Filter
Filter and O-ring in OEM box with Toyota surface hologram sticker. According to sources you can search for on the net this OEM filter has larger pores than (at least some) premium brand filters. This means that the Toyota filter will not filter out as fine a metal particle in the oil, but also that it will not clog as quickly. So if you opt for synth oil with a claim of 10,000 miles between changes you should be able to drive that far before the Toyota filter would clog enough to significantly impede oil flow. Maybe flow could be restricted sooner than that with a premium filter. Then again, maybe filtering out the finer particulates would lead to lower wear and longer engine life. How to optimize would be wild speculation without details that don't seem to be publicly available. This car is older now so I opted for the cheaper -but still good quality- filter this time.
