HIGHLY RECOMMENDED CABIN BACKPACK - did me for a week away!
Just back from a week in Montpellier with all my gear in the Tromso - and it's just UNBEATABLE. A FRACTION of the cost of bigger brand products aimed at travellers/backpackers - this little fella was such a pleasant surprise. And robust as anything!!For just over £33, the materials, build quality, functionality and comfort are off the map great - seriously. Also - being a very disorganised traveller, I thought I'd try out the Cabin Max packing cubes - more excellent value for SIX at £14.99 via Amazon - and they are designed to fit a backpack this size perfectly. Pictures attached. You'll see in one of the pics, all cubes fitted in the backpack, with a light jacket, coffee and other sundries besides - all fitted like a dream; also you'll see I have a 15" 2013 MacBook Pro in the pocket designed for a large lappie, next to your back - an overlooked feature but I'd say essential for weight distribution; other backpacks have that lappie pocket on the outer surface - and that will make back problems worse if you suffer from them. The reason I've included the shot of the Cabin Max packing cubes inside is that I wanted to show that although the bag design/airline cabin bag constraints mean the main storage appears pretty shallow - you can in fact get a very good amount of gear and nik-naks in - besides a large laptop. This is all I took for our week in Montpellier (awesome btw), and I packed:- 15"Macbook Pro (the zipped pocket for this contains TWO very handy slots for your tech - so easily and iPad too if you're that sad ;)- 3 T shirts- 1 set thermals- Running leggings/thermal running top/socks- Plenty undercrackers/socks/and 1 pr jammy bottoms- Applemac power lead/plug adaptor/trimmer (beard not hedge;)/ipod. All electronic nik naks fit in the long 'shoe bag' shaped cube.- Placcy bag of toiletries- Aeropress Coffee Maker & two bags of coffee- Paperback & Writing pad- Valentine's gift for girlfriend (!)- Travel docsThe compression straps work a treat, as does the foldaway strap system for fussy airlines - but absolutely no issues on Easyjet anyway. (And this backpack is designed for tighter Ryanair cabin specs at Feb 2018).My packing brought the weight to around 12kg, so the backpack's very lightweight construction is a great feature; but I do want to say again - when you pay comparitively such a little, I was prepared to be disappointed when I opened the packaging; I wasn't - it's very robust, the stitching has held up on our trip when it was slung around a fair bit, the sternum strap made a huge difference to it's portability when full, and I realise the makers have to say it's water-resistant - but I can vouch for it being very much more! For sure, if fully-laden with heavy stuff and you suffer back issues - any backpack you buy would benefit from waist straps (which the Tromso doesn't have) - but I have a weak back and didn't struggle a bit. Plus, the waist straps add to fussiness unless you're doing some serious kilometres on foot. So yep - could not recommend this superb bit of gear more highly! Nice one Cabin Max!

Served me well in Japan
I lived a year in Japan and whenever I knew I was going on a shopping spree to akihabara or anything like that, it was always enough space. And on the plane it also works well as a carry on, able to fit a decent amount of stuff in.

Perfect for 4-5 days
Pleasantly surprised with the quality and space after reading some of the reviews. Some reviewers had commented on the lack of space for clothes but we used some of the laptop/ books space and there's no reason you shouldn't. Very comfortable for a city break; don't know how it would be for a long hike. An important point is that at the airport it fitted Jet2 and Easyjet luggage sizers but not Flybe. I think it would fit Flybe if virtually empty.

Great rucksack, ideal for 10kg carry on luggage
Took this rucksack on holiday for a 5 day break away. Held all the stuff I needed with plenty room to spare. Seems robust enough, & I expect it will last.

Perfect for eliminating checked-in baggage!
Bought this because it is light, to maximise my packing. That's what not having wheels is an advantage. It's got lots of useful internal and external pockets and even a recharging port so you can put a power bank inside and connect your device to the outside.

Well made travel bag
Good size, well constructed cabin bag that conforms to Ryanair's rules. I have only used this bag for one trip but seems well made and is comfortable to wear. Non-offensive looking and a decent price. I was planning on getting a more attractive (and expensive) one by Dakine but it would not arrive in time so I ordered this one. I am happy with it

Made a real difference to my holiday
Used the bag for a 4 night holiday to LA. Fitted loads in, and made a genuine difference to my holiday knowing that I could take so much but still stay within my hand luggage allowance. Would highly recommend.
