Wonderful Item But Over Too Soon
I had high expectations for this book as I'd read the reviews and I love books that are a little different. The book itself is a gorgeous item with lovely illustrations and the act of pulling out the letters to read is exciting, almost as if you're the first person to discover a scrapbook full of someone's memories. What let me down is a few points - most of the pages are just printed; one side the 'front' of the postcard and the other side is the back with the writing on. Only the actual letters are in folded envelopes, so it feels a little like a half-hearted attempt at being different. It also feels a little thin when you first hold it. It took me a grand total of ten minutes to read (much to the amusement of my partner) and I had to read it again to check I hadn't missed anything (I hadn't). You just start getting into the story, feeling the emotions between Griffin and Sabine, wondering about the mystery of Sabine's history and wanting to know more of Griffin's past and their connection, and suddenly it's over. The last page is a little too 'Paranormal Activity' for my liking - rather than being a cliffhanger it just amused me. I recommend this, definitely, but I would suggest that you get your hands on all of the volumes in the series and then start reading. I now have to order the next couple and wait, which doesn't inspire as much excitement as I thought it would.

Brilliant!
A whimsical tale made even better with a style that enhances the substance. The art of this book is striking and the writing is touching and wonderfully compelling, I especially liked the story descending further into something more ominous and then ending in an impacting way.

un livre captivante, un univers magique, un livre 3D a contempler, dรฉcouvrir, lire, imaginer... Une livre ouvre d'art, tnat les images que l'histoire, raccontรฉ travers ses lettres et cartes nous font rรชver.

What was shown, was exactly what was delivered - unlike some other vendor from India who โsoldโ me a highly used copy but showed in its advertisement a mint copy.

I picked up "Griffin and Sabine" after being recommended it by a woman sitting near me on an airplane the other day. She was talking about chance meetings of people in day to day life and I had never heard of the book. After reading the first one in the series I am hooked! The story is about a man named Griffin who designs postcards and lives in the UK who one day receives a note from Sabine who purports to have been searching for him for years. One can assume she has somewhat of a crush on him and his artistry. But as the story goes on, you realize that the book is about so much more. It is about long distance correspendence. Secret love and lust. Griffin who at first is incredulous at the prospect that someone from so far away admires him and has been waiting for him, finally after many letter up and back falls hard for Sabine and can't get her out of his mind. The book concludes with Griffin saying that he can't take it anymore and must go away so as not to continue to be in correspendance with Sabine. A truly magical read that leaves you dying for the next chapter in the story.
