I ordered this so I had an extra for people to help out when docking the boat. I already had a shorter wood one but wanted something extendable. Man this thing is nice and beefy!! The first one sent had an issue with one of the locks, but the company sent a replacement immediately so no complaints. Very heavy duty, my friend is now, in his words, "jealous" and plans on replacing his with these for his sailboat.

I ordered 3 of the 12' Extend-A-Reach poles. When they arrived the boxes were a little beat up but the poles looked to be in good condition. Two poles worked great. One pole had a part break shortly after I first extended it. I believe it was due to the carrier (by the looks of the box). I sent a message to E-A-R letting them know. This was over the Independence Day holiday so I didn't expect an answer for a week or so. I get a message from Kate shortly after I sent the message. She let me know that E-A-R would replace the pole and make it right ASAP. I recieved my pole a few days later. She also messages me to ensure the new pole arrived damage free. If you are looking for a company with good customer service Extend-A-Reach will have you covered. There are plenty of reviews on here that tell you just how good these poles are so I wont talk too long on that. I haven't had a chance to use mine much but when I did use them they were very strong at pushing and pulling at 8'. I played around a little with them at 12' but I don't see using that extra length very often. If you are deciding between Extend-A-Reach or another brand just buy this one. You will be happy you did. As a side note (because I couldn't find the information) the diameter of the base of the pole is 1.25". In case you are wanting to buy pole holders for storage.

You can't believe how many times we use this -- cleaning weeds off the boat prop, keeping weeds away from the prop when backing up, getting cobwebs off the boat. It's an essential tool.

More than expected this item is well made

Pole broke within 1 month of getting it. The 2nd extension locked in the extended position. Contacted the seller and received excellent customer service... They remedied the situation immediately and sent out a replacement. Pole appears to be of solid construction. Not sure why this one section locked in place.

Easy to use and extend, I use to hang bird feeder out of bear reach. Stores compact and is lightweight.

Seriously, this Extend-A-Reach boat hook has been way more useful than I even expected. Docking the boat is so much easier now with that extra reach – no more leaning way out and almost falling in! Plus, it's not huge and clunky, so storing it isn't a pain. Feels pretty solid in your hand, and the fact that it floats is really handy. The funny thing is, I even used it the other day to help hang some string lights in the backyard. Who knew? Definitely a good buy if you're around the water, and maybe even if you're not!

I purchased this for my father for Christmas and he told us it is the best gift he has received. We intended this purchase as a second pole/hook for the lake. Instead, this is now his primary tool and he is incredibly impressed (very hard to do, by the way) by the sturdiness and stability of the design. We will definitely be purchasing accessories from the company in the future!
