This hat feels like it was made to last. The waxed canvas gives it a rugged look and keeps up well in all kinds of weather. You can tell it’s high quality right away structured, fits comfortably, and the snapback lets you adjust it perfectly. I’ve worn it for work and just hanging out, and it still looks brand new. Definitely feels like one of those hats that’ll get better the more you wear it.

Hubby loved hunting and fishing the entire time I’ve known him. As the years have passed he’s become a softy and given up hunting and fishing and crying if he accidentally kills an animal (chipmunk or squirrel etc) so I figured this beautiful had would be great for him. It’s beautifully stitched and made of a great brown fabric ! Looks great on his head and he’s loving wearing it because we had grandson give it to him for hubs surprise 60th ! Hubby loves wearing it and grandson loves seeing his pop pop wearing it ! It’s nicely made and sharp looking !

Overall the hat is decent for what you get, I would've expected a higher quality product out of Vortex personally as I run their optics products and they all seem to do their job quite well and be one of the most affordable in the market - with a lifetime guarantee too. I took the hat out of the bag and it smelled slightly like motor oil which did go away. I have a large head and often have issues purchasing hats due to this. This is one hat that actually just fits using their adjustment strap, so I didn't need to order a larger size or anything so that's a plus. The adjustment strap itself also feels strange and almost like it's extra stiff and brittle or something - hopefully that holds up to the elements! It seems to be pretty comfortable from my little experience I've had hands on so far and is a good color as to not make you too hot either (still likely more hot than a mesh style hat). I also like the color as its not too far off from a Coyote or similar which should also wear well with exposure in the elements. Only time will tell how the hat holds up but I will certainly put it through it's paces dispatching some coyotes and on other adventures (will update the review with time). It also has this elastic type of band that's blending in with where the brim meets the bowl of the hat, I assume for holding glasses or something? A little worried about the longevity of that but again, time will tell and will update you all accordingly. It also came flattened out due to being placed in a envelope but retook the shape of a cap within a little bit.

I picked up the Vortex Royal Tine Waxed Snap Back Cap and it’s become one of my regular hats. The waxed cotton gives it a sturdy feel without being uncomfortable, and the construction feels solid with good stitching and a structured front that holds its shape. I’ve got a bigger head (size 7.5), and this one fits me nicely with room to adjust using the snap back. It’s not a mesh cap, so it runs a little warmer in hot weather, but that’s the tradeoff for having a tougher, more weather-resistant material. Cleaning takes a little care—you can’t just throw it in the washer. I spot clean it with mild soap and water, then let it air dry, which keeps the wax finish intact. Over time, the fabric will get that worn-in look that waxed canvas is known for, and I actually like that character. It’s a comfortable, well-built cap that holds up to regular wear.
