Poor production control - be prepared to spend an hour finishing the job for them
I have spent 20 years buying products (including tools back in the day) from China for very large global companies. This is the type of low grade sloppyness that China used to be known for (which is why we used to buy from Tiawan). The screws are covered in dirt, fine metal dust and particles and is very poorly machined with lots of sharp edges. So be prepared to disassemble and try not to cut yourself. Clean everything the way the factory should have done. Knock off the sharp edges and loose pieces of metal left from bad machining and re-assemble with an appropriate lubricant. When you get done you have a very workable product. For this price and out of a modern well process managed and quality audited Chinese factory I should not have to do any of this. They are buying cheap, selling above the value point this demands and expecting the customer to fix the rest. Just a bit better than Harbor Freight out of the box. Wilton used to be decent - this is disappointing, they can do better.

Nice vice for the money.
It's foreign made which was a little disappointing coming from a brand like Wilton but overall it's a good vice and works well. Can't really beat it for the price.

Out of the box seems unusable
Out of the box the cranks to move the x-y plane were terrible, ranging from stiff to very stiff. There was a lot of dirty oil also on the sliding surfaces that the sections run on. However, all it needed was to loosed the two allen bolts that clamp the handle close to the vice. Also I cleaned and lubed the flat surfaces, and its smooth as could be now, one hand can easily position the vice. The allen bolts were just set off in the factory to one side and making it rub on the inner threads. I'm leaving these allen bolts relatively loose now. HTH.

Not the quality I was expecting for the price
So the vice/work holder is rather bulky and overall has a good appearance for a fab shop or tool room use. However when trying to turn the handles and move the jaws the screw threads are not machines the greatest and donโt advance without quite a lot of effort and are not smooth sliding as one would expect. Also the handle are not precision as there is a lot of slip or lag from when you start to advance it until it actually starts to move. I would have returned the unit but my window of opportunity closed before I had a chance to get this out to check it over before deciding to use it or put it back in the box. Possibly can have some of the issues โmachinedโ to make it operate better but time will tell.
