Review: Every IEC must have this! - As an Independent Educational Consultant (IEC), the FISKE Guide to Colleges is a must-have in my toolkit. I’ve loaned it to my students, and it’s made the rounds — they’ve even passed it among themselves! That alone says a lot about how engaging and useful this guide is. It’s informative, well-organized, and provides a balanced view of each college. What’s more, parents find it incredibly helpful too. I always recommend this book as a great resource for families to borrow, especially early in the college search process. If you're navigating the college admissions journey, this book is a highly recommended companion. Review: Recommend for college preparation - I have a junior and this is so helpful in college planning for the next year. We bought the pre-loved book because we just need a little info of colleges depending on her interest. It made us discover colleges that were not on our radar and also gave us more information about the college campus and students. Good book to start your college planning journey.

Left me wanting
The book says it covers 320+ colleges, so I naively thought it would cover all the ones I am interested in attending. Unfortunately, it does not. It seemed to be missing several that I wanted to know more about. In addition, with the way the world is changing mainstream books need to start covering online universities. I did not find any information about online schools in this book. After a quick scan to make sure it was not what I needed, I returned it. I gave it 4 stars because if you are interested in a top notch school like Rice or Princeton it seemed to consolidate a lot of the information needed into a couple of pages.

Great Resource
This book was a great resource. My daughter and I turned to this many times to research a school. It provides all of the relevant information and gives you a little perspective on what the environment and social life are like at the school. There are some quotes from real students as well, which I found very helpful. Definitely must have if you’re on the hunt for colleges.

Only select schools reviewed.
Only has info on a few colleges - mostly top colleges or big name universities. Not a comprehensive search. If you’re looking for the Ivys or big schools it should be ok

Comprehensive book for prospective college students
Normally I just look this information up online, but having a physical book to browse through is really helpful. We keep it available so that anyone can grab it and review potential colleges when they have a few minutes to spare.

Best College Book!
I am in the process of looking at colleges. This book is SO informative and gives so much information all in one spot. More information than I would even think to ask or look for. Covers everything from academics, social scene, food, dormitories. Feels like you are talking to an insider at every college. Thanks so much for all the great info!

Underwhelming
Not at all what I expected. The main text of the for each school is just a glowing review of the school. The main information you are looking for in a college is a small key to the side of each page with no specifics. Really this is just a book of a few schools in each state, a blurb on how friendly the students are there, and directions to that institutions web page. Not a guide.

Highly recommend
This book succinctly gives you the details you want to know about US college acceptance rates, comparable comparisons, how nice the dorms are, the food and Greek life. They have sidebars of all the pertinent information so it’s quick and easy to digest. I can’t imagine the process without this book. Do yourself a favor and purchase it. You won’t be disappointed.
