This tool is very similar to a good air hammer used in automotive, it come with a pointy and spade bit. I am using this to install plants in the Sacramento area, while new to me, I found you cannot dig a few inches without hitting various rocks, from small stones to basketball size. This tool saves a lot of time trying to use a shovel to break through the rocks. It will chip off some of the rocks but on small "boulders" it will just scratch and not break them, this still allows to loosen the soil around and remove the tiny boulder. I have seen the landscapers have a bigger electric "standing" style with a big spade and they seem to be able to break them apart. On the Nevada side I have seen similar rocky backyard exists where I have watched them work and had to use a jackhammer almost with each hole they dig. I find it is best to push the pointy bit into the dirt and then tilt the tool, it will loosen up, repeat until it is full of holes, and then shovel the dirt and rocks out. I can tell you it is still very time consuming and exhausting for a size 15 "15 gallon" plants which is very popular here, takes about an hour to dig such a hole by hand and maybe about half the time aid of this tool. I only wish the bit is longer since as the hole get deeper, the reach can be awkward, but doable. 100% wear full goggles because chips will fly everywhere, and close your mouth. (Dust wasn't bad in my use) The best thing is the price, it is economical I am not too worried about grease and stuff, it comes with some grease but not clear how to use it, if it breaks I would buy it again.

i would give this 5 stars. it works great. Vevor customer service is a joke. that cost it some stars. i cant find bits to fit the non-standard 5/8 inch hex shaft. that cost it a star. buy a hammer with the standard 1-1/8 inch hex shaft. avoid Vevor just in case you need customer service. did i mention how really bad their service is? edited 6-13-25 i went from 2 stars to 5 stars. the hammers that use the larger bits are very heavy. 40lbs or more heavier than this one. and they use oil. this one uses grease. grease doesnt leak. that makes this one way more attractive. and the price of this one is way lower. i broke up a 5ft. x 3ft. x 8in. slab of concrete with this, and i never strained myself due to the light weight. i found a 17mm hex shank bit with a 2in. head on Amazon for $17. i would like a bigger bit, but its a trade off. few bits, and virtually no customer service, but for the price, and the ease of operation, its definitely worth it. even its disposable, its better than renting, or breaking my back on a bigger one.

I purchased this with what I think were reasonable expectations. I had a relatively small section of concrete that I needed to break up (10" wide x 20' long x 4" deep). I had pre-cut the channel using a 14" concrete saw (also a Vevor product). The first half went remarkably well - there was plenty of power to methodically punch out large chunks of concrete. I got about half way through my job when I noticed that one of the machine screws holding the chisel bit housing had fallen out. i re-inserted the screw, tightened as best I could and carried on. By the time I had gotten 4/5 of the way through the work, two screws had fallen out. Closer inspection showed that the screw holes had been stripped of any thread to hold the screws in. I've since reached out to Vevor Customer Service, who suggested two wholly unsatisfactory options to address the problem: 1) they would send me a new part - just the housing - and I would have to disassemble the tool, replace the housing and reassemble (which they acknowledged would be difficult)...or 2) insert a thin wire into the hole to give the screws something to grab onto, since the thread was gone. I also learned that the chisel bit housing is made of aluminum, which as it turns out is way too soft of a metal to use for a tool that by design has to endure repeated impacts as part of its function. Had the housing been made of steel, this jackhammer would be amazing. The motor was great, it's easy to use. But it literally began to fall apart during it's first job and, inexpensive or no, that's unacceptable.
