A well-made, beginner-friendly recorder that’s ideal for young learners
We bought the Yamaha YRS302BIII soprano recorder for our five-year-old after she kept saying she wanted to learn the flute. It has proved to be a sensible (and affordable) place to start. The quality is excellent - it feels solid, well finished and exactly what you’d expect from Yamaha, even at this entry level. The recorder looks great and comes with a cleaning rod and storage case. These are thoughtful additions which make it easy to look after between practice sessions. It’s light and comfortable for small hands, and the finger holes are well positioned, making it manageable for younger children who are just starting out. As you’d expect, there’s still plenty of practice needed - and that does mean the occasional bout of enthusiastic but squeaky 'music' filling the house - but she genuinely enjoys playing it, which is the most important thing. It feels like a proper instrument rather than a toy, which helps keep her engaged and taking it seriously. A great-quality starter recorder that’s well suited to younger children and school-age beginners, and a much better first step than jumping straight into more complex instruments.

An Amazing Step Up
I bought a YRS-302B as a step up from my beginners Yamaha 24B and I am amazed at the quality and the sound of the 302B. I love playing it and the quality and feel is outstanding for a resin recorder. I know people rave over wooden recorders but I prefer to play the 302B over my Moeck wooden recorder which was over £100. Along with the recorder you get a full length case so you can leave the recorder assembled, some recorder cream, cleaning rod and leaflet. I find the recorder cream really helps with the sound as you obviously get a good join on each section. Anyone moving on from a beginner should get one of these.

Nice recorder for the price.
This is a nice sounding recorder. It is easy to overblow so you have to be careful about that. Like any recorder it sounds better in a warm room and cloggs after about 10 to 15 minutes (the same as my resin Aulos) in a cooler room. I alternated playing it with my Aulos and my wooden Mollenhauer to compare. I was surprised that I still liked the sound when playing my medieval pieces. I bought it as I like to play for a long time in one session so needed another descant to swap when my wooden Mollenhauer has had enough or my Aulos is getting clogged.

Great quality
Great quality as you would expect from Yamaha. Comes with a protective case which is made of a thick material so expect it to last. Little more expensive than the others but when comparing to what other children have I’m glad I paid the extra as the plastic is thicker and better material than others.

Professional instrument at a reasonable price.
My 6 year old has started recorder lessons in school, an my mrs purchased a cheap one from the toy store and sounded screechy and annoying. I decided to order this, It’s one of those you get what you pay for. The sound is better and the build and feel Is if quality. It came with a Yamaha cover and a cleaning kit as well.

It comes with a nice case though
I was expecting a "warmer" sound but overall it does the job. It comes with a nice case though.
