Handy little tool.
Definitely takes the faff out of setting your chain tension. I know you can do it with a ruler or measuring tape, as long as you have 4 arms... But with this, you only need 2 arms, and it takes a couple of minutes. Set it for your chain, bung it on the chain, adjust chain, take it back off the chain. Job done... Well... Maybe tighten up the bolts you loosened to adjust the chain. That's probably a good idea.

Works OK. Overpriced for its construction.
Firstly: I've been riding/maintaining motorcycles for over half a century. Chain adjustments a wee bit of a chore. Secondly: This piece of kit all but eliminates that chore. Thirdly: Best method is not to use the indicated lines to get the correct slack. Instead. Set your slack normally to your preference, then, attach the Monkey. Then, tighten the Monkey and make a note of the position on its scale. Then, in the future, adjust the chain with the Monkey to your own noted mark on the tool. It works well. The idea's a good one and that's why it doesn't cost between five and ten quid. I guess when the patent's up there'll be Chinese ones for $4.99 on AliExpress. In the meantime, if you want to make chain adjusting very, very much easier....buy one now from Amazon.

Much easier now!
Wish I’d known about this years ago! Used to use a tape measure and eyeball never really precise. Good quality easy to use.

Not much use on a VFR800
Got this as I wanted a quick way to set the tension of the chain on my VFR800, however, due to the way it works, it really isn't much use. The recommended chain slack of my bike is between 20-30mm, which falls in between 0 and 1 on the device, which is easy enough to set, however, the chain on the VFR is very close to the single swing arm, which means that due to the design of this device. You cannot set the correct tension because the device not only creates the necessary tension via the tightening of the bolt against the chain, but it also creates another tension because the plastic arms that sit over the top of the chain rub against the swing arm - I have tried moving the position, but no matter where I place it, the result is the same. I'll stick to using either a steel ruler, or a pair of vernier calipers which also seem to work pretty good to them being able to measure the distance travelled.

Excellent
I bought this and then watched few YouTube videos about them and how all them were whinging and couple of the even didn't know have to take the black plastic out first. So i though i did mistake for buying it and have ro send it back. But before i said just lets try it see how it is. After finding the size of my chain and setting it and finishing the adjustment. I measured the chain free play and it was sopt on to what factory saying... so believe me buy it and make chain adjustment much faster. Just remember when you tightening your chain just dont make it too tight. Just when you feel this is tight for chain it enough and that's when you get the perfect free play for the chain

Chain monkey
Doe's exactly as described, great time saver and removes the guess work and doubt about tension.

Surprisingly useful
Just looking at the tool - A piece of moulded plastic with a bolt running through it - it seems like a lot of money for something that probably costs very little to make. Having used it a few times though, I'd say it's worth every penny. Set the rubber washer once, fit it to the chain and adjustment becomes a piece of cake with no more messing around with rules. It's become one of my favourite tools for the bike.
