Is this OK to use if you wear contact lenses ?

No, not if they’re soft lenses. Soft lenses are absorbent and limit the flow of the natural tear-film on the eye. This drop contains a very powerful preservative which would soak into the lens and potentially cause havoc with the tear film and cornea. The drop needs to be used four times daily, meaning you can’t even use it just before or after lens wear (and wait for 20min while the preservative clears) which is why it’s not suitable. Hard lenses it will be fine as the tear film on the eye flows freely while wearing those.

If you need a medicine ask a prescriber (GP, pharmacist, or optometrist) to prescribe a preservative free, contact lens safe, anti-allergy eye drop (such as ketofall/ketotifen).

what happens to these eyedrops after four weeks?

Sorry for late reply .
These eyedrops after four weeks can get contaminated by germs or dust and this can lead to eye infections.

I always write the date I opened mine so this doesn’t happen;.

Read the instructions they are very clear.

I’ve used Opticrom for a long time now and have always found that this is the best for hay fever eyes and an6 alllergies.

Hi - the drops I purchased have an expiry date of Dec 2015. However it is recommended thatthe drops be discarded after four weeks of opening. Hope this helps

Are these eye drops preservative free?

Heres a list of active ingredients 
The active substance is sodium cromoglicate. Each 1ml of eye drops contains 20mg of sodium cromoglicate (2.0% w/v). One drop contains 0.7mg of sodium cromoglicate.
 • The other ingredients are disodium edetate, benzalkonium chloride and water for injections.

On googling i got this 
This formulation of Sodium Cromoglicate Eye Drops contains benzalkonium chloride as a preservative. Benzalkonium chloride may be deposited in soft contact lenses.
