Detailed and impressive!
I purchased this workbook (and the corresponding book) as supplements to a high school equine science course I have created for my homeschooled daughter. In addition, she is in a dual credit program in college, where she earns high school and college credit at the same time. Because my daughter is an equine science and barn management major as well as a passionate horse lover, this workbook is especially helpful for high school, college, and beyond. The workbook is divided into eight parts: overview; skeleton; ligaments, muscles, and tendons; blood vessels and lymph nodes; the nervous system; the head; the foot; and viscera. Each part is further divided into sections within the eight parts. For example, the skeleton is divided into fifteen sections that cover such things as the pelvic girdle, the thigh and leg, the hock, and the skull. What I really like about the book is that when it is opened, on the right page you see the drawings which are labeled with numbers and letters. Then on the left page the numbers and letters are written along with the identified body parts. When my daughter is trying to learn the parts of the horse or studying for a test, she can look at the drawings and not see the names of the body parts, only the specified letters or numbers. That way, she can practice identifying parts without having to cover up all the names. She can simply cover up the page on the left which lists the names. The workbook can be used as a study guide, practice book, test book, reference book, and even an advanced coloring book. The very detailed pictures and identified parts of the horse are drawn in black and white, not color. I like this feature because I can create assignments in which my daughter can identify various bones, muscles, organs, etc. by coloring them. After high school and college, the workbook can become a part of my daughter's horse reference library. I strongly recommend this workbook for students from high school to college and for current or future horse owners who want to learn more horse anatomy in order to better care for their horses.

Nice clear illustrations
Very similar to Kainer, R.A. and T.O. McCracken. 1998. Horse Anatomy: A Coloring Atlas. Alpine Publications, Loveland, CO. ISBN # 1-57779-021-9. Pros: Has nice diagram of palpable features that is not found elsewhere and comes in handy when applying anatomy to the live horse Cons: Pages are slippery and I think they would be hard to color, but this is not an issue if you make copies and keep your original nice. Out of print, so difficult to recommend to students, due to limited or fluctuating availability

Best anatomy study guide EVER!
This is the best anatomy study guide I have ever seen! I am a sculptor, and I use this type of book to verify details of muscles and proportions. It will take over as my main source. Plus, it’s fun to color in the different parts, and it helps you remember the scientific names.

Very Informational and Detailed!
The Horse Anatomy Workbook is very informational and thorough. It is very detailed, and I would advise making copies of the pages before you write in the words, to quiz yourself. The drawings are also very easy to understand, but, when coloring the pages, I would recommend using light colored pencils.

Detailed Horse Anatomy From Every View
Got this for one child entering vet school to specialize in equines and a second child close behind working on an equine capstone project, and all are very pleased. All equine systems are in here, complete with lateral, dorsal, ventral, cranial, caudal, palmer etc views. Sections work from general pages to the specific in painstaking detail. Proper names for labeling are on the left page while numbered diagrams are on the right page. Bones, muscles, ligaments, circulatory system, lymphatic system, nerves, pouches, teeth by age, and on and on--everything is here. Spiral binding is sturdy and means the book lies flat and is easily used for reference. Worth every penny.

Great workbook
I bought this for my two daughters to share; ages 12 and 6. It's definitely an older kids / adult workbook, but even our 6 YO is loving it - and learning a LOT. and the interactive coloring makes it fun to learn. We are enjoying it!

I'm a sculptor of two things: the equestrian and human form, and as such, two matters are very important to me, proportion and anatomy. I recently encountered another creative door I had to go through with the horse, better proportion. I have loads of books on Human anatomy, but not one on the horse, just downloaded pics and illustrations of such from the internet. My next major project warrants a galloping horse, and for this I need great illustrations and anatomically correct proportion. This workbook fits the bill and will serve me well now and in the future; it's a great workbook.
