Tidyer than separate usb-rs232 adapter and rs232 serial lead…..it’s 2 products in 1 The Ftdi chipset is more widely compatible and more reliable than the prolific chipset, in my experience. More expensive but worth it to preempt compatibility and installation difficulties.

Don't buy the CH340 chipset, get this cable or any other cable that has a FTDI chipset. This product has good build quality and works no problem, it uses the FTDi chipset.

Very good. Works with Windows and Linux. Then bought a second one. My old one didn't work with Windows so this is more versatile.

Used with my rollover serial cable for connecting to Cisco kit. Works well straight out the box and nice quality. Have brought them also for some serial devices for various applications and works a treat. Neat cable and good price. Always good having one of these as a network engineer!

Used this to connect my old hand held gps which has a 9 pin serial connection to my newer pc which doesn't have any serial ports. Did not realise that it needs a driver which comes with it on a disc. All works very well and easy to load and assemble although I had problems defining the correct port in my device manager with the driver.

Didn’t work with connection to my hand controller/Celestron AVX telescope mount and laptop. I found another that did work.

I used this particular FTDI Sabrent cable to "flash/update" the firmware of a newish ROTEL TRIBUTE CD11 CD player via it's serial port. It worked well on Windows 10 x64 via USB side once it discovered the cable. I would recommend though to disable anti virus before doing any updates first. Now, why a simple red book CD player requires firmware updates in 2025 is another matter. Two stars off as it's too expensive!.
