What a great monitor. It's the best
Historically I have love-hate relationship with Apple products. I used Windows for major chunk of my life and I still do for office use. But for home use, Apple MacOS is the best. And if you are using Apple laptop or Mac Mini, then this Apple Studio monitor should be on top of your list. This is a glossy monitor. There are hardly any other brands which have glossy monitor. I don't know why people hate glossy. But I love them. Glossy monitor gives such a crisp and bright picture and text quality, that you will never buy a matte screen monitor. Apple has done a fantastic job. Previously I used LG 4K monitor and the brightness on that was weak. Apple Studio is not only bright but color gamut is awesome. Text, pictures, videos look so nice. I am not into gaming. So I don't know how response time will affect gaming performance. I have an external speaker setup with Creative X7 Amp. But I don't use it anymore. Because the speakers on Apple Studio monitor are more than adequate. I don't use in-built webcam. But it's there if anyone needs it. I have hooked it permanently to my Mac mini and I love this setup. In future, I will never buy any other monitor. I think 27 inches is a perfect size. But I wouldn't mind buying a 30 inch version in future. Price of this monitor is very high. But the features it provides justifies the price in long run. Quite honestly it's a well build monitor and value for money. Don't buy those cheap plasticky monitors which break down after a year or two. You will keep using this monitor for at least 8-10 years. One last point, Because this is 5K monitor, it scales really well with Apple products. Even with ipad Pro M4, which I rarely connect. But it shows full screen for ipad Pro M4. I would like to thank Apple for making a wonderful monitor.

This is exactly the monitor I needed.
The Apple Studio Display checked off a lot of boxes for me, so I bought it. Apparently, the main complaint most people have with this monitor is that it is too expensive. Well, itโs not cheap, but thereโs really not much else out there right now in the fully Mac-compatible world to compete with it, so yes, it is a premium price for an elite machine. Here are the monitor requirements that were important to me: -I wanted a high quality 5K monitor with a beautiful screen. Done, no complaints here. Itโs produces beautiful, sharp and bright images and text. -I wanted a fully Mac-compatible monitor. Done. The Studio Display reacts quickly and exactly like the screen on an iMac would; integrated as though it was built into the computer. Screen brightness and volume control are handled by the computerโs keyboard. The Studio Display has no buttons whatsoever. No problem with text font scaling. -I did NOT want a monitor that was on back-order; it needed to be available immediately. Amazon delivered the Studio Display within a couple of days as promised (and for $100 less than Appleโs pricing). -I wanted built-in speakers. The Studio Displayโs speakers are excellent. -I wanted a built-in microphone. Check. The mic is very good. -I wanted a built-in camera. Check, even though the images are fairly soft. -The monitor had to look good on my desk. The Studio Display is designed and crafted beautifully with high-end materials. My computer is an M2 Pro, Mac Mini.

Pricy, but a really great monitor
It was a stretch for me to pay the hefty price for this monitor. But it is a great monitor and I really like it. The color is great. The resolution is great. And the sound is great. The webcam works great too. So it does check of all the boxes. I just think it shouldn't have to cost as much as it does.

Stunning 5K display - incredible quality
The Apple Studio Display is absolutely stunning! The 5K Retina display has incredible picture quality and true-to-life colors. The tilt-adjustable stand is very smooth and the built-in camera and speakers are excellent. Worth every penny!

Works with a PC with a few caveats
I took a chance and I'm using this monitor with a PC and an Nvidia 3060Ti graphics card. Make sure to purchase a bi-directional DisplayPort 1.4 to USB-C cable that supports 40 Gbps or 8k at 60Hz. Bi-directional is the key - many cables are not. I got mine here on Amazon. 1) Since the monitor does not have a power button, it may not turn on right away depending on the order in which the cables are connected. If it does not turn on, you may have to disconnect the DisplayPort end of the cable from your graphics card and reinsert. Unplugging the USB-C end from the monitor didn't seem to work for me. Or try leaving the display cable plugged in and then just unplugging and reinserting the power cable. Be careful not to arc and short out the display if you have old recepticals or power strips. Once the diplay is on, it seems to go to sleep and wake back up with a mouse gesture just fine. 2) The monitor is VERY bright. I have not found a good way to adjust the brightness in Windows yet. None of the 3rd-party utilities seem to work with this display yet. White backgrounds in APPs can be a bit jarring in a dark room, but are bearable in a well lit room. The white is the purest white I have ever seen on a monitor. 3) The monitor defaulted to 8-bit color. I set the display to 10-bit color in the Nvidia Control Center. (It also shows the ability to select 12-bit.) 4) It is a standard IPS panel but Apple seems to have higher quality controls than other manufacturers. So there is a small amount of the typical IPS glow or back light bleed, but it is pretty uniform over the display with very minimal spotlighting in the corners. My 12.9" iPad Pro has 2596 full array backlight dimming zones and the $5,000 Apple Pro Display XDR only has 576 zones. So I didn't think the Pro Display XDR had enough zones to control blooming - especially for the price. I would love to see a version of this monitor with the same number of local dimming zones as my iPad and support for HDR. I got this monitor new for $250 off MSRP during a one day sale and I am happy with my purchase so far.

Great build, super sound, excellent resolution, mediocre contrast, weak camera, way too expensive.
I love Apple products. Nobody builds things like they do, with the same attention to design and details. This is an excellent monitor, and a huge upgrade over my last screen, although there are substantial drawbacks and compromises present in this very expensive product. On the positive side, the image is incredibly sharp, and perfectly scaled for displaying content in MacOS. You will not see pixels at normal viewing distances with normal eyesight. The screen is very bright, and I don't think most will use it at full brightness. It is quite large, and a great size for multitasking in my opinion. The sound quality is exceptional, if you have use for the built-in speakers. The controls are all managed via software, and everything "just works" when attached to a Mac. The monitor is certainly quite costly, but whether it is overpriced is a question of your needs, available competition (there really isn't anything to match it in terms of overall resolution, build quality, and features), and priority for the Apple aesthetic. In any case, it is frustrating at this price point to see so many design compromises and premium features lacking. There is no local backlight dimming, and the blacks are never exceptionally deep. It's impossible to get really great contrast or high dynamic range with this old lcd technology, although the colors are quite true, and the image is very pleasing in general. The refresh rate is fixed at 60Hz, which is too low to avoid motion blurring. The cabling is simple and the USB-C data / power pass-through works great, but why is the power cord permanently attached (ridiculous!!)? It is quite convenient to have a built-in webcam and mic, but the image quality of the camera is very poor for a product in this price class. I had thought that objections to the camera in early reviews were just fanboy noise from people trying to make news. Nope, it is really very bad. I originally considered the image to be OK, albeit somewhat soft, until I compared it head-to-head with a streamed image from my iPhone's back camera. The difference in resolution and quality is not subtle - it is extreme. I marvel that they put this 2nd rate camera in such an expensive product. What a wild decision. It may be part of the focus on an ultra-wide field view that automatically reframes the subject. This is fun, but I would much rather just have great image quality if I could only pick one. The design priorities seem strange in other ways too -- the computing chip inside this monitor is actually very powerful, and adds to the overall cost. Naively, it seems quite over-engineered in that regard, but perhaps there are good reasons for it that escape me. Still, I would have preferred attention to be focused on something more obviously useful, like built-in Face ID. Ultimately, I suspect that a lot of users will feel "trapped" by this product. The current computer lineup at Apple with no large iMac will funnel a lot of users reluctantly into a purchase that is simultaneously their best available choice, but still not one they can really feel great about. I do actually like the notion of separates, but the minimal combined cost of a new system is way up. I guess you can't complain too much if you decide the purchase is "worth it" to you. But, the lingering sense of having paid premium prices for a significantly compromised product is not consistent with the type of optimal experience that has led happy Apple customers to zealously evangelize for the brand over the years.

Exceptional picture and build quality
This monitor has exceptional picture and build quality. Not too much blooming given that it's an IPS display. Contrast is good, subjectively seems better than the specs would have you believe. Probably because the SDR brightness is so impressive. Colors really pop. Pixel density is top-notch. Speakers also pack quite a punch for being integrated, and having a microphone and camera built-in is nice. Only downside is price.
