Was going to return it, but it grew on me.
Hi, my Keen Targhee 2 hiking boots got snagged and I needed a replacement. I wanted a sturdy boot with good support. I needed less sturdiness, but a lot of support and impact absorption, as I had injured my ankle and needed some "give" and not something so snug. I heard these Merrills were super popular and with less sturdiness and ankle support, exactly what I needed at this time, so gave the Merrills a try. I bought granite as everything else sold out in my size (8 wide) around the holidays. When I first looked at the Color granite, it looked "boring sneakers" (especially with the Blue jeans I wear) and not my typical Brown ones that just screamed "hiking boots" with more flash...what I usually wear. These Granite colored ones looked like very low key sneakers, the other Merrill Colors scream more of typical hiking boot, most especially the Brown ones like "Bungee cord" or "Braken Purple". anyway, I was going to need these boots, most especially to wear on my other uninjured foot to provide some rock solid support and stability. What really pleased me was unlike the Keens, these were so much lighter, almost like I was wearing nothing at all. They are waterproof, and really worked out when I was watering the plants on the patio with a leaky water hose. Because they provided the support, grip (the special Verbam sole did not slip at all anywhere!!), were very lightweight, easy on my overworked foot, and I had to wear them everywhere I walked, I appreciated that the Colors were more muted. So, it worked out well. I was pleasantly surprised and pleased. These are great everyday "shoes" (hiking boots with give on the ankle, that looked like GREAT SHOES with no slippage, great absorption of Impact, and lots of stability), I appreciated being able to wear them everywhere and it provided all the stability, lightweight, waterproof, non-slippage, and Impact absorption. I needed for my overworked...one working foot, as my other foot healed in a cast. I felt no hesistation using these with crutches all the time. After over a month of using the boot so much, it still feels as good as day one. This speaks to the quality of craftmanship. Incredible. Mind you, I never used these boots on the trail. I'm looking forward to in hopefully a few weeks. I will probably walk on a flat trail with minimal rocks, and I'm sure these will work out and be perfectly fine. Thank you Merrill for such fine footwear.

Excellent boots but my foot or the material of this shoe changed, get wide if necessary!
I think as we get older maybe our feet get wider? I have worn these merrell boots in various colors over the years but always the same size, regular width. Well, this time, the regular ones squished the heck out of my feet! The wide ones work perfect. I am a size 8 or 8.5 and an 8.5 wide fit me perfect. I wear thick wool socks with these and have no issues with bruising or blisters. Excellent grip, feels like walking on clouds, the colors are pretty, they are cute enough to wear to work (depending on your job), and they are incredibly durable. One pair typically lasts me 2-3 years but I am ROUGH on my boots. I walk through streams, mud, kick doors open, etc. These are great boots. I originally purchased this color grey and teal in 8 wide since they didn't have it in 8.5 but it was a tiny bit too small in the toes with my thick socks on, so I went up to 8.5 and they fit perfect. The falcon color is actually very pretty in person so I'm not mad about it.

Great waterproof boot
I am not an avid hiker and this was my first time buying and wearing any type of hiking boot. I wanted something not too expensive as an introduction boot to hike in Yosemite. I got this boot in a 9 when I’m usually an 8.5 per the recommendation to size up. The fit felt good I have a narrow/skinny foot so I did feel I had wiggle room in my toes but not enough where my foot was sliding everywhere. I didn’t just wear regular nike dry fit socks because that’s all I had but I bet hiking thicker socks would have felt better. After walking/ hiking in Yosemite all day in the wet/snowy floor these boots held up well. My feet did not suffer at all and I was very comfortable wearing them for the first time for several hours. I didn’t have any blisters or pain which was nice since I didn’t break them in at all! They had great grip in the slippery wet snow and I felt good ankle support and confident hiking uphill and downhill in these boots!

True to size and comfortable with ankle support
Great for hiking. Comfortable and good ankle support. Fit as expected and the style looks feminine enough. Water 💦 proof and warm with my wool socks. Nice on a warmer day with lighter socks as well.

Its not for me - high top boots
I was really excited to purchase my first pair of hiking boots, especially after being recommended this brand and model. When they arrived, everything seemed perfect—comfortable fit, great design, and they felt solid on my first hike. That initial outing went smoothly with no issues at all. However, things changed on the second day. About four miles into the hike, I started experiencing sharp pain where the top of the boot rubbed against the bone just above my ankle. It became extremely uncomfortable, but I was too far in to turn back. I had no choice but to push through the pain for the remainder of the hike, which lasted nearly four hours. Still hopeful, I decided to give the boots another try the next day on a 6.5-mile hike. Unfortunately, the same issue occurred, and by the end, I was practically dragging my leg back to the car. I even tried adding an extra sock for cushioning, but it didn’t help and made things worse. To be clear, the boots themselves are well-made and initially felt very comfortable. But the pressure on that specific part of my ankle has made them unwearable for me. I don’t know if returns are possible after use, but I can’t wear these boots again. I’m really disappointed, as I had high hopes for them.

Comfortable
These boots are so comfortable and are true to size. I didn't need to break them in. I wore these hiking around Iceland and my feet were warm and dry. They also grip very well. Excellent boot!

Endlich!

Really liked the look of these! Disappointed they were uncomfortable. I have narrow feet and they were squeezing my pinky toe. The bed was just awkward as well. Returned them.
