Tiffen 49mm Circular Polariser Filter

Excellent circular polariser, even better than Hoya, it's worth the money definately, the contrast and colours are boosted and reflections are reduced by a lot..

This is well made and functions perfectly for the purpose of cutting down reflection and deepening blue skies. Does what I needed it for.

This is a superb and very adaptable filter. Unlike cheap filters it has zero distortion or colour cast. If you need a high quality filter with guaranteed high performance and consistent results, this one should be on your list. Highly recommended.

After having a bad experience with Amazon and K&F cpl filters I decided to try this one. I’ve been eying the urth/hoya/kenko cpl filters but when this one came on offer I jumped on it. I bought the 77mm filter to fit my Sony G 24-105 lens. This CPL filter actually works! I can’t see any obvious image degradation - perhaps the slightest purple fringing but you really have to pixel peep to see it. Overall, it gives a warm effect to the photos. At 24mm there is slight vignetting in the corners but it’s something I can live with. Does what it says on the tin! Works a treat and have been using this for the past few months without any problems.

Simply Tiffen

Every photographer should have a circular polariser - they're an incredibly useful asset to keep in your kit bag. Use them to improve the appearance of blue skies, bring out the texture in clouds, reduce unwanted reflections from water, or even just as an ND filter at a push. If you're using decent lenses, it's worth spending a little extra on your polariser - a cheap filter won't do your image quality any favours. I bought this Tiffen part to see if it offered any IQ improvement over the (cheaper) Hoya filters I normally use. I was disappointed to find it really didn't, so my advice would be to save your pennies and get the Hoya HD filter instead.

Needed it for a camera and it delivered flawlessly. Bought even more later on.

Don't understand how there are so many reviews saying this CPL doesn't work, or is poor quality. The one I receieved (77mm) was clean and smooth turning. It really removes alot of reflection. In fact if pointed at a computer monitor, it can turn the monitor completely black on its maximum position which is quite impressive. I did make my own little mark to indicate the maximum/minimum positions as it does lack that. I however only paid 28$ cad (as opposed to the listed 42.12$ cad) for this filter NEW fulfilled by amazon warehouse deals because I assume someone ordered it and canceled it. It still arrived in undamaged packaging and not a fingerprint on the filter. Really really glad I checked the 'new and used' section to save about 15$!

This filter was ordered through Amazon. If I remember correctly, I got the filter in record time. It is a circular polarizer, 86mm. It fits the lens that it was purchased for, a Sigma 150-500mm. Now for some not so good news, it has been very wet here in Washington state. i have not used the lens and filter combo yet. However, bright sunny days are coming and I will be getting outside with my gear before too long. I look forward to updating this review. Thanks, Chuck

I have had many polarizers over the years. I have used filters such as this for over 25 years. I like the Tiffen as it is not too dark for most uses. I keep it on for almost every shot (unless it is night time or quite dark) to protect my lenses and for it's mild polarizing effect. (I take 1000s of images on a shoot, mostly landscape) Some other brands are too dark to do this. The dark ones many times look too polarized, and post processing has to take much of this out anyway. I do have a few of these and use them occasionally. I have found that an image that is properly balanced that does not need too much darkening or lightening post processing is much better, I have a Hoya but it is always falling apart (and way too dark). I have Heliopan 77mm Circular Polarizer Lens Filters and like the quality, but again they are too dark to keep on all the time. The Heliopan is the one I keep for special uses when I want more polarizing effects than I get with the Tiffen. The Tiffen polarizers I have had only were replaced when they became too scratched for use, broken from being dropped or run into things, or lost over board in my boat. As I said a couple of Hoya ones were replaced because they fell apart. I use a Canon 5D with all high end L series lenses (most costing well over $1000.00) and have sold over 1300 framed GiClees ($300-$800 each). I feel that this filter does not compromise the quality of my images. So in review. I don't want an unnatural appearance due to my filters. I do want the pleasing effects I can achieve with the Tiffen filter. I have never had a problem with any I had purchased, so recommend them to others. And I will continue to use them myself. It is amazing to see it works. The item was shipped from abroad, but I was amazed too see how carefully it was packed and delivered. I have attached a comparative set of images. I liked it
