expected a nice sharp knife but was dull after i sharpen this thang to razor edge.... absolutely love this cleaver! the weight cuts thru anything this thing is a beast at stew meat.

I am a big fan of the Dexter Russell brand of knives. I have six that I use daily and have nothing but praise for them. I decided to buy this clever, and I’m so glad I did. I slow smoke barbecue a few times each week, all types of meats. This clever is sturdy, and was sharp enough right out of the box to smoothly cut pork ribs and chop pork and chicken for sandwiches. Excellent product!

I've been using this thing for about two years now, and I like it. It's big and heavy, has a good shape, and an ergonomic handle that is not slippery even when wet. I mainly use it to take apart chicken wings and other smallish stuff, and it does the job well as long as I keep it sharp. It is what it is, as annoying as that sounds. It's not a $400 carbon steel hand made cleaver with a walnut handle, it's a commercial grade cheap stainless cleaver that you can bang around and not worry too much about. So, if you want a beautiful piece that you can pamper and show off, this isn't it. But if you just want to chop through some junk and you don't want to worry about the damage that might do to one of your nicer knives, this thing will do the job. I treat my knives well, but I haven't taken any special care of this one. I don't leave it out in the yard in the rain or anything, but I don't clean/dry/oil it after every use either. It's solid. If it breaks or something I'll update this review, but so far It's holding up fine for me. Would buy again.

Don’t buy this knife if you don’t know how to sharpen a knife. Edge was horrible from factory but once sharpened it is a awesome chopper, good weight and good handle. Solid.

I love this product, I just worked on a team to work through a ton of pork shoulders for chopped and pulled pork and this cleaver worked exactly as expected. Only real gripe is I with the handle were just an inch longer, as I feel its a little off balance for short quick chops. This is really for breaking down chickens and the like, so it totally works as designed. I can't ding the product for that. Made in the USA!

Very heavy duty cleaver. Whole poultry cut up with ease. A true commercial cleaver Backbones and ribs are no problem. Had a slight burr on one edge out of the package, but a couple of strokes on a steel set it right. Responds well to steeling.

Perfect, just waiting on the sheath cover l ordered from amazon that fits it. l ordered this item not for the kitchen but for my tackle bag so when l go out on an adventure of fishing in a remote wilderness area, l have this cleaver to chop thru the fishes head and bone at one time. not too heavy , recommend it

I've always been very impressed with Dexter Russell products and I use several of their knives on a daily basis, but the blade quality of this cleaver is horrible. The blade is so rough I'll need to spend a significant amount of time on the whetstone to make it useable. There is no hone whatsoever. I would expect quality like this from a flea market find, but this knife was brand new.
