Worked great to restore some busted grommets on a vertically hanging tarp for a canopy. Very easy to use - I love that both sides of the tool are magnetic.

I bought this heavy-duty grommet tool kit for work with canvas, fabric, and heavier material, and it turned out to be much better than I expected. The tool feels solid in the hand and does not have the flimsy, throwaway feel that some smaller grommet kits have. It gives the impression that it was made for real use rather than for one small project and then into a drawer forever. What I liked most was how complete the kit is. Having the 1/2-inch die and 300 sets of 12 mm grommets included makes it much more practical right out of the box. I did not have to stop and order extra parts before getting started, which is always a plus. That made it easy to move from setup to actual work without wasting time. In use, the tool was straightforward and gave clean, secure results. Once I got the alignment right, the grommets seated well and held firmly. It worked nicely on heavier material, and the finished result looked neat and professional. That matters because with a tool like this, you do not just want the grommet to go in. You want it to look like it belongs there. The handles give decent leverage, which helped when working with tougher material. I also liked that the tool felt stable during pressing and did not seem likely to twist or shift around too much. A lot of hand tools in this category either feel underpowered or awkward, but this one felt dependable. The only thing I would mention is that, like most tools of this type, there is a small learning curve at the beginning. If someone has never installed grommets before, it may take a few tries to get perfectly centered, consistent results every time. That is not really a flaw in the tool as much as part of the process, but it is worth knowing. Overall, this is a very good kit for anyone working with leather, canvas, fabric, tarps, or similar materials who wants a manual grommet tool that feels sturdy and capable. It is especially nice that the set includes plenty of grommets to get started immediately. For home projects, repairs, crafts, or light professional use, this kit offers very good value and gave me results I was happy with.

The tool itself is great. It's easy to squeeze, works really well, the dies are easy to change, and it being magnetic makes it really easy to hold the grommets in place without fighting. The manual says there are two allen wrenches, one for each die half, but the tool itself has been improved since then with a set screw for the bottom half and no allen wrench. This is much better, though at first glance, it looks like there's a tool missing since it only came with one until you look at the tool and see the screw. I don't know that a screw could replace the need for the wrench on the top half, but if it could, that would be fab. I think not, though, because it needs to be tightened down and then it's too hard to loosen to change by hand. Regardless, I am pleased with the tool and wish I had it two months ago when I had to run a bunch of grommets on fabric to make makeshift curtains. The grommets are pretty standard, all silver, good sizes, and I like that they're packed with the two pieces separately from each other for ease of counting out. The anvils included work well to protect your surface from damage when punching the holes in your leather or fabric, but the punches themselves leave a good bit to be desired. They are not sharp at all. I tried two of the three sizes and both were frustratingly dull, resulting in a lot of noise disturbing other household members, a much longer time than it should have taken to get a simple job done, and eventually taking scissors to cut the last remnants the punches wouldn't go through. It took me almost as long to punch 16 holes of two sizes as it took for me to measure and cut eight strips of leather and make four of those into loops. I had the item delivered to where I am staying, which is not at my house. I have punches at my house that have gone through 6-8 oz water buffalo hide with no problems and they're not really expensive or brand name ones, so it's not a 'get what you pay for' situation. These are just dull. We tried to sharpen the worst one but it didn't do much good. If you're buying this for the tool and grommets, it's great.

Couldn’t find the one I had and was in a bunch so I ordered a second one. This one has three different sizes which is a plus. Only used the larger one so far. Worked perfectly for the material I was using.

Great set. So many grommets and tools. I did look up their video on youtube but mostly I carefully reviewed the pamphlet that was included. The grommets gun cam with the 10 already installed so I had to use the Allen wrench (included) to remove it & replace it with the 8 to try it out on a dish towel. Worked like a charm. Super happy with my purchase.

Tarps never seem to have grommet holes where you actually need them, so this kit was the perfect solution. It lets you add sturdy new grommets exactly where your project calls for them, making the whole setup fit your application perfectly. The price was great, the tool is easy to use, and I’m really glad I purchased it. A simple fix that makes a big difference.

I thought it was going to be difficult to squeeze the tool but it is very easy. The grommets can cut through quite thick leather. Sets perfect grommets as long as it cuts through the material and it comes with the correct size punches for thicker materials!

Needed to add grommets to a 16 mil tarp I bought. The tool worked great. I did need to cut a small hole before I used it but it did the job perfectly. I also used it on an extra thick plastic tarp, without putting holes first, and it cut right through it, no problem. I then tried it on some nylon webbing and once again cut through it great. The grommets seem to be good quality. Overall, delighted I decided to buy this.
