Cuprinol Wood Preserver Clear (Bp) - Clear 5L

I decided to spray this on to full sized, horizontally slatted fence panels with a decorative latticed curved top. The first side took 1.6 litres, one can covered 5 sides after adjusting nozzle pattern and flow. It’s expensive stuff, not quite sure why, but anyway, it’s very highly rated and the fence panels were expensive, so worthy of a couple of coats. It’s a very thin consistency and rapidly soaks into the wood so I think spraying is the most economical and best option. One panel takes about 2 minutes to spray!I bought a 400W Von Haus Spray Gun off Amazon, a really good bit of kit, and very easy to use. Ordinary white spirit will clean the gun after use.

I've been treating some wany edge barn walls - first time since we moved here 8 years ago so probably in dire need! I noticed when it rained that the water just ran off or sat on the surface in droplets, like it does on a freshly polished car. I'm delighted and am confident it will prolong the life of the wood.

I sanded my really grotty-looking shed back to fresh(ish) pine and then applied this in two coats to stop it discolouring in future. I don’t know if it will work, but my shed looks natural instead of dyed and I can see the woodgrain better for the preservative. I needed double the amount I thought I would, but I am very happy with the look. The product (clear) makes only a very small difference to the woods appearance so don’t use it if you don’t already like the look of your shed or whatever. (I gave 5 stars for its water resistance and value for money qualities but I have no idea really. It is easy to use however (my shed was bone dry) and doesn’t smell of much.)

Easy to apply . Makes any wood darker than before application (colour -clear) but nice and shiny. Wood soaks preserver quick and single coat is not enough. Coverage was less than on the tin . I put 2 coats to Shed + Fence + Decking in preparation for UV colour application . Very expensive and time consuming operation . Apart from looking nice I hope will prolong life of Shad/fence/decking .

My second can in four years, which speaks for itself.A good wood preserver but not waterproofer, and it will not prevent the occurrence of algae . . But great for timber longevity.Easy to apply, and quicker drying than alleged, which is good when you’ve doggies impatiently awaiting their charge about.I would highly recommend this product !

Watery and easy to splash but soaks into the wood so doesn't leave drips. Someone below complains about then needing to stain or paint the wood but I think they miss the point - this is wood preserver not a stain - the colour of the wood will be slightly darkend by the treatment but remains quite natural looking

I liked the quality. I don't like the price. I've bought a cheaper make for the miles of fence I've got.

I use this product for preserving a garden arbour while continuing to show something of the old wood grain. I've used it on the recommendation of the makers since we bought the arbour at the Chelsea Flower show in 2007. The wood has now weathered to a pleasant grey patina, not unlike weathered cedar, but still brightens up after its annual treatment. I need to spread a large tarpaulin and two dust sheets under the arbour as the liquid is like water and splashes and dribbles everywhere, and can make a horrible mess of grass, slabs and clothes. As for price, I am being very generous in giving it 4 stars. But it's the only stuff that does the job. Irrepaceable product.
