Easily the worst thing she has ever written
I deeply regret purchasing this book, especially at the £8.99 price point, because it was written by one of my favourite authors. AS excels in writing about angst ridden teenage girls but she probably wasn’t the best choice to write this book which seems to be a a spinoff from a soap I have never watched, where the narration is from the viewpoint of two teenage boys, Any halfway decent script writer could probably have done a better job The narrative starts out slow and didn’t really sustain my interest, it livens up when she introduces an improbable romance between a poor boy and a rich girl and an even more improbable encounter with pirates I couldn’t really get my head round Savanna she seems to be half bold free spirit/ half Stepford girlfriend totally under the control of her pompous boyfriend. I was curious to know what hold he had over her but that is never properly explained – the whole thing just feels like a soap storyline where a long running character has a whirlwind romance with a newcomer – only for the whole thing o fizzle out because the guest star is only booked for one episode. If you are a fan of the soap you might enjoy this – but if you are an AS fan I would warn you not to expect the something o the same quality as her earlier books.

Mistakes
I really love the book… the vibe matches the original so much, however. There are a lot of mistakes in the grammar sense. It’s written like something I would write a few years ago.
