if I, say, clamp a 120V AC lamp cord, will it measure amps correctly? What about a 220V pool pump motor? Thanks!

That 220vac motor will have a data plate that might say full load amps or something like that. Clamp hot wire somehow to get the best reading and if it's pulling higher amperage than what it's rated for, get a new motor. It should run below what it's rated for. As for the lamp, I can't imagine why you would need to check amp draw for that but this meter will do it brah... It's pretty accurate
