14 AWG 5 Conductor Wire 14/5 Gauge Extension Cable 20FT

Great stuff exactly what I needed for a 4 way hoist control

We have a camper that we wanted to put some additional lights on the back end. The length of the run will be about 20’. Normal 18-gauge light wire is not heavy enough for 2 amps at the end of the run. There will be too much voltage drop. I also needed 5 wire to include a reverse light. I can run this 14 gauge wire 30’ and still get 2 amps at the end starting at 13 volts. That is so much safer than risking a fire by using lower gauge wire. This wire is perfect for the job. I can run from the 5th wheel connector back 20’ and use my 18-gauge trailer wire the last 15’ which should be fine because that is the wire attached to the light from the manufacturer. This wire has a nice jacket covering all the wires and each wire is jacketed. The is a separator in the middle of the wires. The wire is nice and flexible understanding the size and number of conductors. It sure makes things easier to run this rather than trying to run separate wires and keeping them together. I would guess working with AC current would be similar. For the price you can’t beat it.

I have an application on my boat, where I need to run power up to my T-top from the helm and then back to the helm to control a couple of auxiliary circuits. The storage compartment on the T-top will house a small bank of switches and the wire needs to be run up through the center of one of the support posts. Space is very tight to get multiple wires through this area and I thought I would try this wire for this application to minimize pulling/fishing problems while using tinned wire with a primary and secondary jacket insulation. Tinned wire is a must in damp environments to prevent copper wire from corroding. This, combine with fact that this provided 5 conductors, the number I needed to be run, (1 of which is a spare), met my needs for the project. Not only is tinned wire good to prevent corrosion, but easily accepts solder for any soldered connections. On a boat that is subjective to a lot of vibration and pounding, I don't rely solely on a crimped connection, I also solder the connection to insure I don't have a connection failure while under way, which could be a critical moment. I tested the wire, shown in one of the attached pictures, for its ability to be soldered. With a minimal amount of heating, the solder flowed out very well. This combined with a fairly heavy outer jacket to prevent abrasion wear through should make the wire a very good marine application.

Each jacket will have information printed on it, making it easier to identify as the cable that fits your requirements. A letter code identifies material, gauge and voltage rating. It is multicore with options for 2 to 100 conductor wires. Different colors are applied upon each wire insulation for easy identification. The specifications for this cable are delineated very well in the Seller’s Amazon site. I do not find any incorrect information stated there. Bear in mind that I am not a qualified EE...so I am only giving my review based upon research and experience. This is a very good cable capable of many uses around the household (staying within the UL2464 guidelines. It is not intended to replace ROMEX for example.

I’m rewiring my boat trailer and got this cable for the final few feet along the tongue, to the plug-in on the truck. The old wiring had gotten beaten up over the years and the outside insulation was cracked in several places. Turns out, even though I got this in reasonably robust 14 gauge wire, the entire cable was quite a lot thinner and more flexible than the original wiring. The fact that the inner wires are color-coded made it easy for me to connect correctly. Good deal.

I got this to install several sets of lights on my 4x4 truck. This seems like great quality wire and it's easy to work with. This will save a lot of time building harnesses from scratch!

I used this wire to extend a couple ceiling lights in a camper. The wire and sheath are easy to work with and looks to be durable enough to use in a high vibration environment (like a camper or trailer on the road). The wire colors are standard and matched closely to existing wiring making it very easy to keep track of what I was working on.

Nice and heavy duty yet flexible. Great way to run multiple DC circuits in a single cable..Perfect for my needs.
