Quite small....my one is only 500mm x 600mm and works perfectly

approx half you ladder hight is good a little more even better

What is the ladder weight for lifting back into the loft?

The whole ladder weighs probably less than 10 pounds ( 5kgs) and when installed some of the weight is carried by the loft hatch. To pull down or to slide the ladder back up is very easy and as it is counter balanced is light to push up into the horizontal position before closing the trap door. It is all too many years since had my 65th birthday and I have no difficulty in lowering or raising the ladder. If it does your job go for it. Derek.

when opening your loft hatch how do you then pull the ladder down, would i still need to stand on a chair /stool?

no they suply a nice easy to use pole that said you need to use it a few time to get the used to it
