Cold sore sufferer whose lips swell to the size of a golf ball when it happens. No make up or patch can hide my out bursts. Prior to taking these tablets I’d get a coldsore once every three months and sometimes one after another (that sucked). I read about these pills and out of desperation, I bought them. I have not regretted a penny I have spent on these magic gems. I take one a day and trust me, to keep a cold sore at bay, I remember to take them. This year (2017) I have had one but the breakout was very mild. I still used the usual creams (Zovirax type) but there was no swelling. Plus, I upped to two pills for two to three days. The pills are large but again, to keep a coldsore alway, I’m happy to choke on them occasionally. You have to do what you got to do. In all seriousness, relax, drink water naturally and they’ll float on down. My only annoyance is that I have gone to order another bottle and they have doubled in price 😡

EDIT: Okay, I've had my first 'proper' coldsore outbreak (see below) since taking these, and it was a bit of a doozy. Before my coldsores appear I have a gland under my chin that swells up. So when this happened I increased my dose of lysine to three a day. Undeterred, the coldsore duly arrived on my lip (and my neck - I managed to spread them around a few years ago when shaving and they always reappear there now). This was all pretty annoying because I was due to go on holiday in a week, so I continued with the high dose and the sores had just about disappeared by the time I got on the plane. Naturally, I also reverted to the usual creams and 'invisible' patches in an attempt to beat the sore on my lip. So, in summary, I don't think you can expect this to prevent an outbreak but it does seem to speed up the recovery process. I'll continue to take it but I've knocked off a star because I was hoping for better results. ORIGINAL REVIEW: I've been taking these for almost three months now, in the form of one in the morning, just after I wake up - and last week I had my first coldsore outbreak since starting the Lysine. Except... it didn't develop into a full-on coldsore. I got the usual numbness around my lower lip and looked in the mirror to see a redness - a sure sign that a coldsore is on the way. So I upped by dose to two pills a day, the other pill being taken before dinner that evening. I also smeared some Lysine lip balm from Holland & Barrett over the affected area (although I've used this previously with limited results). The next morning the 'cold sore' had developed a couple of the typical tiny raised bumps that usually go on to rupture - but that's as far as it got. Over the next few days (still on two or three pills a day) everything gradually faded. No unsightliness, no bleeding, no scabs, no embarrassment and no feeling low and not wanting to leave the house. This has NEVER happened to me in the 20 or 30 years I've been suffering with coldsores. I've tried all sorts of so-called miracles over the years, even spending £40 or so on a light treatment thingy from Boots (which failed to do the trick). These Solgar L-Lysine tablets WORK. Trust me, you won't regret buying them.

A very potent brand indeed; and I absolutely LOVE the glass bottle packaging. Since taking L-Lysine (which has only been a week lol) I can honestly say that I have noticed that my terrible stomach cramps have subsided tremendously. I use to have a horrible tightness in my stomach hours after I ate, and at night I HAD TO religiously drink a hot tea before bed to avoid feeling tight chested and cramping throughout the night. I'm sooooo happy to say that since taking these tablets I have not had ONE uncomfortable digestive feeling AT ALL - its as if me IBS has totally disappeared. I can't remember the last time my digestive system felt this calm, normal and full of health. Thank you soooo much Solgar for this brand of L-Lysine, I will defo be ordering a BIGGER bottle the next time. This is for me is now too good an amino (and brand) to live without. It's absolutely brilliant. I have also ordered (after discovering how amaaaazing this amino product is) a bottle of 'essential amino 75' by Solgar. It has all the essential amino's that the body needs, but cannot make itself. They contains 75mg each of L-Lysine (my favourite), L-Leucine, L-Phenylalanine, L-Valine, L-Methionine, L-Histidine, L-Isoleucine and L-Threonine. I'm not sure what physical, mental or emotional differences I may find by taking this product, but I am looking forward to finding out. P.S - I have also noticed that since taking L-Lysine that my mood IS more steady, I feel a lot more clear headed and much lighter on my feet. Something tells me I must have been TOTALLY deficient in L-Lysine. If taking my amino 75 adds to this health an clarity I will have truly found my two sets of life long pills (as I will always now buy myself a bottle of Solgar L-Lysine). I still can't believe that my search for better health could now be all over. P.P.S - the way I take my amino pill(s) is at night before I go to bed on an empty stomach. I make sure I wait at least 1 to 2 hours after eating before taking, then wash it down with filtered water or green drink. I hope everyone has as great a result as I have had, and from what I have read in previous comments. I only wish I could have given this product a thousand more stars.

It has been such a life saver...after endless boxes of acyclovir and trips to the doctor I found L-lisine does a better job at keeping outbreaks at bay. The size of the tablets is on the large side but the benefits compensate the discomfort when ingesting the torpedoes. It stops outbreaks from early onset...reduce the duration of the sores and seems to make the immune system more capable of handling the virus. Combined with olive leaf extract is the best therapy so far...of course diet and lifestyle have an impact all over but I noticed I can handle little sleep and more exprssos without turning into cold sore disaster. I also got the l-lysine balm...If there were a bubble bath I would get that too... Note on the dosage...I found this variable and I am on two tables a day for maintenance and 6 to 8 when under siege.. This might not be everybody cup of tea...but still better than acyclovir as it is more cost effective. I rarely write reviews but I feel I owe this to my fellows struck by herpes nuisance And to solgar being the one who win the battle most of the time!!!don't waste money on cheap alternative.

Easy to take and kind to your stomach ...if you are buying this you know what's it's for ,... Take it as soon as possible and keep taking it till you are clear ...

La marca Solgar es una marca en la que confío muchísimo a la hora de comprar mis suplementos, y nunca me ha decepcionado. Esta es la tercera vez que compro la L-Lysina porque leí en Internet que sirve mucho para los brotes recurrentes de herpes y el sistema inmunitario. Así que pensé probarlas unos meses para ver si disminuyen los brotes, y efectivamente siento que he descubierto la cura perfecta 😅 Los estuve tomando por 3 meses y desde entonces estoy genial, sin ningún brote, las encuentro perfectas. No puedo estar más contenta con estos suplementos que me han aliviado muchos dolores de cabeza debido a este virus. En cuanto al tamaño, si que es cierto que son un pelin grandes, y puede que sean más difíciles de tragar, aunque se puedan partir en dos y tomarlas por separado. O también se pueden comprar las de 500 mg que son más pequeñas. Vienen muy bien protegidas y selladas en un bote de vidrio. Las recomiendo a todos los que quieren reforzar su sistema inmunitario y sobretodo si tienes brotes de herpes.

Super bon rapport qualité prix pour ce grand récipient qui contient 250 comprimés, soit 8 mois avec un comprimé par jour. On m'a recommandé ce produit pour prévenir et atténuer l'herpès quand elle se déclenche et, pour l'instant, ça marche plutôt bien. Le produit est arrivé bien emballé et dans les temps.
