Can you choose metric or imperial as the default? If not, which is the default?

There is a button on the front which is marked unit. It goes from g to lb and oz to fl.oz to ml back to g. When you switch it on It starts with whatever was last used. Hope this helps.

Can you get negative readings by setting the scale to zero with items on it, then removing them?

Yes you can. Just tested it, and it gave the correct accurate negative reading of the item (once removed). You can't put the scales on though with an item on it, it doesn't automatically 'zero' itself; you need to switch it on, put the item on the scales, and then zero it.

How quickly does it power off? The one I have switches itself off after about a minute, and I find that is too quick when adding multiple ingredients.

I think I'm right in saying it's 3 mins if there is a value other than zero showing. Only one minute when zero shows. So when adding ingredients don't reset until ready to add.

Hi. i have a issue with the product. it does not zero. how can i replace it?

I have found that if you try and zero it with a weight already on it, e.g. if you have a bowl with 2Kg of flour on it and you try to zero it, it quite often fails. I have worked around this, as the product - otherwise - is accurate and robust. Also, if you move it around your worktop whilst it is trying to zero, this will also fail.
