Good in every respect for the money
The headphones come with a USB plug on them. They were recognised by my PC running Windows 7. My first attempt at Skype didn't work, but as soon as I removed the old headphones, these new headphones started working. The headphones work perfectly with Skype. The headphones were bought to replace the ones I bought from Skype a couple of years ago which had become intermittent. The headband is adjustable and can accommodate my very large head with no problems. There is just the right amount of pressure to keep the headphones on the ear without putting too much pressure on to become uncomfortable. There is a little unit with a volume control and microphone mute switch in the lead - which it is probably worth checking if it ever appears to be dead. This switch and volume control is not something that I particularly need or find useful, but it works OK. Sound-wise the stereo audio is remarkably good for the price. Treble is clear and undistorted (and much better than my previous Skype headphones). The bass is good enough to enjoy music and does not boom - it doesn't seem to be 'enhanced'. The stereo sound stage is quite convincing. Early impressions are thus quite favourable. I wish I had bought this instead of the ones I bought from Skype a couple of years ago. More comfortable, better treble, better bass and more realistic stereo sound stage.

Better than Logitech headsets I've used.
I got this to replace a Logitech cordless headset that contracted "dead left channel" disease two months after I bought it. The sound quality is good enough that I use this new headset to listen to music when I can't be bothered to plug in my headphones, something I never did with the (much more expensive) Logitech headset. The microphone is okay for VoIP calls, which is all I use it for. Slight negatives are: Some headsets have a single cable that connects to the earpiece on one side. These are much easier to get on and off than the PC 8 USB 8, with its 'Y' cable that attaches on both sides; this is something you notice when you're trying to answer a call in a hurry. The icons on the mute switch are really hard to see except in bright light. When I'm on a conference call, I often want to be able to glance at the switch to know that I'm muted. An LED or just simple red/green colour coding of the visible part of the switch's slider would make this much easier. Although the plastics used in construction appear to be of high quality, the headband and (particularly) the extensions that slide out of it to allow adjustment are very thin. While this makes for a light and comfortable fit, I wonder how robust they will prove around someone as clumsy as myself. Overall, this is a good product at the price if you're looking for USB headset to use for telephony and for music when you don't have don't have proper headphones to hand.

Great sound and comfortable
I re-ordered a brand which I was using for about five years but needed a new set and received this brand where the headset is identical but much better rich sound and comfortable fit. When adjusting the movement is nicely stiff which is a good thing as my old set would slip and when your on a call for two hours it's not good, but this headset holds very nicely, the adjustable microphone produces great sound I am told by people on calls and the lead is a generous length to provide flexibility. A great quality wired headset at a great price.

Great for video conferences
I bought this to use with Slack and Zoom for conference calls and the sound quality is stunning, it's comfortable for medium length (1 hour) meetings (not used it for much longer yet). People have said the microphone is clear and reliable. The speakers deliver good sound quality and theres a handy mute switch and volume control on the cable as well. Good product, lightweight and feels quite sturdy as well

Good headset with annoyances
Sound quality good for calls, acceptable for some gaming and music if you don't have big expectations. Still working fine after almost a year of use. Good headset for the price, but I expected more care for details from Sennheiser, see at the cons. Pros: - Lightweight, comfortable to wear for long periods - No creaking plastic noise when moving - Long enough cable, not transferring to much noise to the ears when it's rubbing against something Cons: - Cable is tied up in a tight bunch in the packaging and hasn't straightened out in a year, it's twisting back to the tied up position if you put the headphones down. I don't understand why the manufacturer can't just loop the cable in a big circle around the headphone in the packaging so the cable in not bent, there is enough room to do that. - Adjusting mechanism is too loose, slips out every time I take it off. Once on your head and adjusted it doesn't move, luckily.

Perfect for the job! Work fine with my elderly (OS 10.4.11) mac
These come wrapped in an impenetrable amount of plastic packaging, but once you've hacked your way in, with no possibility of saving the pack for any possible return, you plug 'em in, tell your machine to send sound output to them (mine's a Mac, so go to System Preferences/sound), and that's that! The microphone tucks up neatly if you don't need it. I was concerned that my mac running 10.4.11 would be too old (as it is for quite a few things these days) and struggle to work with these, but it all went like clockwork. The sound quality through the earphones is, to my ears, excellent - I've tried 'em with some Bach, some Nora Jones and some Lindi Ortega - all grand, maybe a bit softer than the Bose system my mac runs normally. I'm using the headset for a language course, and the microphone picks up my mangled Italian well enough for me to repeatedly fail my pronounciation - a very annoying er-er chime! Ah well, Rome wasn't built in a day and my command of the Italian language certainly won't either.

Microphone has stopped working after 4 months of usage
Was working OK for the last 4 months, sound quality seemed alright, the people I spoke to said that they can hear me OK, but other participants headsets regularly sound better. As for the earphone speakers, not the best but this is a comms headset not a music one I don't expect much more, the inline volume and mic mute is handy especially when used with a USB extension lead. The headband is OK, not the comfiest I've used, it doesn't hold the headset in place well but that might be because of the odd shape of the headband. The people I talk to mention that there is a loud noise generated when muting/unmuting the mic with the inline switch, this is confirmed as I regularly saw the on screen volume meter blip when using the mute switch. Had this lasted, I would have given it 3-4 starts based on my experience, but it died after just over 4 months usage in a home office. Tested on 2nd laptop, it installed OK but mic also not working, so not a problem on the laptop where is is usually used.

Sennheiser PC 8
I picked out a Skype Headset for my mum. Sennheiser PC 8, and it arrived today so I had a play. It's USB, so you just plug it in and you get a Mic and stereo headphones. Skype recognizes it and automatically uses it, auto sets levels, couldn't be easier. The mic seems great to me, the phones are OK too. Their frequency response is suited to voice and they excel at this. Music is fairly nice through them too - they lack HF clarity which leads to quite soft warm sounding music. They're a bit flimsy, but at £28 I think they're great value. For Skype, they seem great. 4 stars because they are a bit flimsy and need to be handled carefully.
