Our captain
I was at Yankee stadium when Thurman hit his 1st homerun, the famous 3 M's, Yankees had hit 3 Homer's in a row, Munson, Murcer and Gene Michael. I was 10 years old. Cried when he passed away, still reminded of August 2nd. He was and still is my idol. The book took me back in time. I enjoyed the trip.

Great book about a great man.
It feels like I am at the kitchen table talking to Thurman when I read this book. Well written,well researched and an easy read. The world lost a great competitor and a great role model when we lost Thurman Munson.

oh, Thurman, how we loved you
A great read. Happy to be able to read his book. A real family guy, a great Yankee player and friend of many. I so remember the day I heard about his death that August afternoon. Then, watching his little boy throw that first pitch at the World Series that Fall. We will never forget him, and reading his story was wonderful.

Great Story, Told by the Captain Himself
This book feels like you're having the conversation with Thurman himself. You get to see the human side of the game and how Thurm perceived his journey through the minors and majors. He was my favorite Yankee growing up and I was devastated when he was taken from us too soon. If you're a fan of the game and appreciated Thurman's grit and determination throughout his way too short career, you'll really enjoy this book.

Thurman Munson
I enjoyed hearing Thurman Munson‘s voice after all these years. I feel that I really got to know him. I remain surprise that he is not a member of the baseball Hall of Fame. Perhaps, if some of the baseball writers who vote would read this book, Thurman would be where he should be.

Another Great Read From Mr. Appel
Capturing Munson's grittiness alongside his devotion to his family is at the center of Marty Appel's efforts. If Munson can't be voted into the HOF by the Veterans Committee, then I would suggest they read this book after taking off their collective blindfold.
