SUNVIE 6" Low Voltage Step Lights Outdoor 5W 3000K Black Aluminum 12-Pack

These are beautiful lights. As you can see in the pics they light up otherwise dark steps. We installed these August of last year and they are still going strong. I highly recommend these lights. My husband & I installed them in a couple of hours, so worth it! NOTE: We purchased the SUNVIE 120W Low Voltage Transformer for these lights...ALL purchased from AMAZON

Our deck stairs were dark and felt dangerous at night. I knew this would take more effort to install than cheap solar lights, but it was really worth it. The installation was not too difficult, but I did learn that if you use some super glue gel on the corners of the rubber gasket, it will stay aliged on the back of the light fixture making it easier to attach to each stair step. Con: The included screws are too long and stripped out easily. I went to Ace Hardware and picked up a box of Hillman size 6 x 1/2 pan head sheet metal screws part 55010500 which made mounting each light a breeze. On the back side of the stairs you will need to run a Sunvie 14/2 or 16/2 power cable and use the included connectors to wire up each light fixture. I ran the power wire under the deck securing it with some clips I found on amazon and into the basement where the power comes from a Sunvie 120W low voltage transformer. Very pleased with how this project came out, stairs now look classy and inviting at night.

I purchased these step lights to illuminate stairs for my pups. The design overall feels solid and everything screws together nice and tight. Hardware seems adequate, though many reviews do point out how the screws rust over time, pick up stainless steel replacements if that is a concern. Mounting: Center of the lights is roughly 2 7/8" and I marked with masking tape and a pencil to center each light to the center of the stair. For the cable on the rear, dry fit your vent to the stair's center, mark the bottom vent on the underside of the light housing with a line. Pull away the housing and mark then drill a spot just bigger than the cable, about 1/2" up from that line you just made. This should give you a nice close fitment to the stair and allow you to route the cable through the rear of the board without issue. Wiring: I soldered all my connections instead of using the bulky fastlock connectors included in the box. If you don't own a soldering iron, these connectors should be fine for installation just a little hard to conceal if you care about that sort of thing. The wires themselves feel good and I'm not worried about the rubber coating degrading over time. Weather seal: My only complaint and thus 4 star for this product is the weather seal on the rear does not sit as flush as I'd like for an outdoor product. It is very flimsy and does not seat and stay in the grooves, resulting in a noticeable uneven seal when mounted to a surface. I full sent the install anyways and time/rain will tell if their design will hold up to moisture. If I could go back, I'd run a thin bead of epoxy in the groove and get the seal flush permanently before installing. Light: Brightness is what I was aiming for, not glaring and the vented design keeps the light pointed down at the ground and away from faces. Light has a more natural yellowish tone that is pleasing and not harsh in the slightest. Considerations: If you are wiring these into a landscape transformer, ensure you have some spare wire laying around to reach everything needed. I used some 18 gauge laying around and it would have been impossible to complete this set up without it. The length of cable on each light is perfect if your set up is close together but my nearest outlet was over 10 feet away. Stated earlier, save yourself the headache and glue your seals in before installing to ensure the weather seal stays sealed. Buy stainless steel hardware if you are worried about rusting.

This was my second order and have since ordered yet another set of 8 for my final set of steps. Unfortunately, this set of 12 came with one bad light so I worked with Amazon to receive a replacement. Still feel these lights deserve 5 stars.

These are nice lights; I put these on a much larger circuit. I have a lot of landscaping lights in my front yard, but needed some lights on the steps in the back. I was able to run a 16 gauge wire underneath the house all the way up front to the transformer and then hook these up underneath the steps. Love the results. Everything they provided was superb. Really all I had to do was supply the wire and attach it all up to the transformer. The only other thing I needed were cable staples to hold the wire down securely to the back of the steps.

Lights were fairly easy to install, challenging installation due to natural stone mounting and rusted out electrical boxes. They look great, every single one works perfectly. Only criticism would be the need for stainless steel hardware, the faceplate screws start rusting shortly after installation. Also would like more mounting hole configuration/ options, Needed to drill extra holes in the light fixture plastic to accommodate standard electrical box mounting hardware offsets

Installed these on new cement steps. Used additional sealant to ensure water tightness. Probably not necessary if mounting on wood deck. They provide adequate light for safety. Update, one light failed after 2 weeks so some question about reliability. Still happy with purchase.
