Steven Universe: Art & Origins

I have maintained for a little while that Steven Universe has the most gorgeous art style that I've seen for an animated series in recent memory, not least because I am a massive fan of polygonal art but also because, as a VFX student, I have a mountain of respect for the people who put this together. I love this series and it has rather drawn me into the world of attempting animation of my own. This book, I can tell you, will certainly help with that, and I've barely started reading it yet!

Absolutely Brilliant!! It really gives you an insight into how the show is made, as well as the origins of it (unsurprisingly, given the title) Loads of awesome concept drawings for characters (some of which we've never seen in the show), unused episode ideas, amazing background art, notes Rebecca wrote about the plot and characters early on... It's a very appealing book, the cover is beautiful, and it's great that it's hardback, it's a nice size; although you might need a magnifying glass to read some of the scrawled notes!

I bought this for my son he’s only 11 but an avid Steven universe fan, although he doesn’t really read it much he spends ages looking through all the pictures of how it was made/ started etc. Full of information about the show! Great for any Steven universe fan!

The most beautiful collection of all that is Steven Universe's past, present, and possible future. With an insight into the inner workings of the show, it's characters, world, music and more, there is no way a fan of the show should pass up this product. It is by far the most amazing way to dig yourself deeper into the SU fandom. I highly highly recommend this!!

I gave given it 5 stars because it looks lovely and is full of info. It's a present for my Grandson for Christmas who is a massive Stephen fan and a great artist. So he is going to love it.

Wer als Fan der Serie schon immer ein bisschen neugierig auf den kreativen Entstehungsprozess der Serie - von der Idee, über den Pilot, bis hin zum Endprodukt - gewesen ist, wird hier sicher einen bereichernden Einblick vorfinden! Das Buch ist in - ausgenommen Vorwort und Einführung- in 8 Kapiteln gegliedert: Origins, Green Light&Development, Character Design, Writing&Storyboarding, Sound&Vision, Background Design & Painting, Animation&Post, Onward. Jedes Kapitel besitzt eine ausgewogene Mischung aus Text&Bild und bei Abschnitte mit langen Texten bzw. Interviews werden stets Abbildungen (Skizzen, Fotos, Screenshots aus der Serie) eingefügt, sodass das Auge auf jeder Seite was interessantes zu sehen hat. Als Fan von Rebecca Sugars Skizzen wird man hier sehr viele schöne Zeichnungen vorfinden. Die Texte sind größtenteils im Interview-Format gehalten, mit einigen ergänzenden oder erläuternden Texten. Das Hardcover hat einen schönen fluoreszierenden Effekt und die Papierqualität schein auch sehr gut zu sein. Die Deckelfalz zeigt nach wenigem Gebrauch schon Spuren, ich kann jedoch nichts sagen, ob dies normal ist oder nicht. Insgesamt macht das Buch jedoch einen stabilen Eindruck.

Per chi ama la serie a mio parere è un must, appare pieno di schizzi ma andandolo ad analizzare in realtà è un po' povero da alcuni punti di vista, per esempio a lapis, peridot e bismuth è presente solo una pagina a testa, mentre ad alcuni personaggi addirittura solo uno schizzo, però molto carino esteticamente e ricco di interviste e descrizioni

Desde la portada te das cuenta del cariño y trabajo que se le puso a este libro, ya que cuenta con un acabado tipo metálico muy bonito y muy ad-hoc con la temática de Steven Universe. El libro contiene sketches de preprocucción, diseños de personajes, fondos, guías de diseño, ilustraciones y storyboards. Es un gran recurso visual para entender el proceso por el cual se desarrolló la serie y el impacto que ha ido teniendo a lo largo del tiempo. Los textos también ayudan a entrar más en profundidad en los elementos que se tomaron para crear la serie y todo el amor que el crewniverse ha puesto en este proyecto. Para fans de la serie es un vistazo detrás de bambalinas muy interesante y para artistas puede ser una gran fuente de inspiración. Recomendado ampliamente.
