Surprisingly capable tester for Ethernet + fibre.
What I loved: Brilliant little toolkit for network work. The cable tester is accurate, quick, and easy to use — picks up wiring faults instantly. The wire tracer works exactly as it should, even in noisy cable environments, and the PoE detection is super handy when you’re trying to figure out which switch is secretly feeding power to what. The optical power meter is a great bonus for fibre checks — not pro-grade lab equipment, but more than good enough for field use and home labs. Build quality is solid, buttons feel responsive, and the display is clear and bright. What made me sigh loudly: Realising how many messy cables I’ve ignored for years because I didn’t have one of these sooner. Should you buy it? Yes — absolutely. Whether you’re doing home networking, small business installs, or homelab fibre/SFP setups, this little kit is genuinely useful and great value for what’s included. Accurate tests. Great tracer. Useful PoE and fibre tools. If this tester were a person, it’d be the IT mate who always turns up with the right tool and a spare cable, just in case. Would 100% recommend — perfect addition to any networking toolkit.

Great tester - bargain price
If you do any network cabling this tool is a great help. I use it almost every week when tracing out cables/points or terminating rj45 ends really useful for testing continuity and faults etc also does fibre too. Good size screen easy to use. Long battery life. Was a good buy. Very pleased

Decent - maybe a bit pricey compared to similar tester
Initial impressions are good. QC mode is handy for checking your RJ45 connector isn't busted. Tested it on my home network, and the tracer worked well. The cable length detector in quite a nice feature. Maybe allow for a 10-20% variance either way but seems accurate enough to help you measure on a job with a bit more precision that just eyeballing and guessing internal cable runs. I saw some reviews saying it was useless but it seems fine on the cables I know the approx lengths of. Anything under 2.5mtrs won't register, and just make sure you have the correct cable type selected (my quality varies on product batches but mine seems alright) It's a bit annoying to no have indicator lights on the tracer, which double up for your continuity testing. Meaning you need to have the main unit in hand to confirm the cable your testing. As points get further from the cabinet, it's a chore walking back to confirm and then back again to change ports (as opposed to a simple visual on the passive end to help speed thing up)... So bring an apprentice with you 😅 Strangely doesn't seem to charge with Type-C to Type-C cables . Has to be Type-C to Type-A. Feels a but cheaper to hold than it looks and there are comparable testers for around £20 cheaper than offer similar functionality. Might be concerned if I dropped it a couple of times as I don't think it will hold up to massive amounts of abuse. Haven't had a chance to test optical cable. If this it's terrible I'll update the review but otherwise assuming it's serviceable. POE testing is a nice feature with real time information. Handy for quick confirmation. Port Flashing is a bit meh. It does a quick flash and then goes off for ages before flashing again. Would be nice if you could control speed and even the pattern. Honestly it's not bad for the price. It might be better place around the £50-60 mark but it's a decent tool for quick testing. If you're a DIYer and only using it a handful of times, it's probably overkill. But like that circular saw you've only used twice... When you needed it, you needed it. Professional or not, it's seems like a half decent tool to use before you need to break out you more serious equipment.

Quick and easy verification of cables in a budget package
I was hesitant getting this as the cost difference between it and 'pro' tools was significant so I wondered what the catch was. I'm very glad I bought it as it's been a real life saver primarily for checking fibre runs at a multicampus site I manage, which has a spiders web of fibres of all sorts of types and quality. Often we had to resort to getting a 3rd party out to check the fibres which caused delays and was expensive, especially as we just wanted to verify if we could get a light down it for a later project. The tester allows me to test both single and multimode fibre patch cables and longer runs in the range of kms. This is a basic dBm reading, but is plenty for me. It does require a device on the send side to push light down, so a switch with an SFP is required for me to test a long run and verify the light is coming to the remote site. It does however have a basic red LED / laser light it can push down, but if you want to test the full run you'll either need to loop it back or have a second unit on the other side. If using for the fibre checking you will want some patch cables, SC at the tester end to various ends and of single & multi mode for the other end (unless your site uses a consistent connector type) I've not really used the other functions much, but the toner does work fine as do the copper cabling test tools. PoE checking is handy too. What it doesn't do, and I really wish it did, is CDP / LLDP on the copper port. Battery life is brilliant. I've not charged it since I bought it a year ago. A great tool for quick validation of links and cables which can be thrown in a bag for each technician while the bigger / expensive 'pool' tool stays in the office for fallback.

NOYAFA NF-8508 Network Cable Tester with Optical Power Meter
Probaly a bit of an over-kill for the average home user, unless your an IT Nut who has installed LAN / fibre cables / switches / server in his house and attic, yep, I'm describing myself. If your a network cabling technician, this is invaluable for work and also your home if you've cabled it out with Cat 5 /6 . It can work out faulty cables, straight or cross-over types, cable length, switch problems, and problems with fibre optic cables. It has a nice bright display and with easy readouts, it's a nice bit of kit to have in your tool bag, all for a very good price, it come with a small hand book which is very useful. Yashi

Great value for money
Great features for the price point. Of course there are better tools out there but nothing in this price range has the same feature set! There are reviews knocking it for missing features, and comparing it to Fluke and the like, but you must realise the enormous price difference. Pros: Easy to use Saves carrying multiple tools (VFL, network cable tester, toner) Feels like acceptable quality Battery life is good. Features all seem to work as expected. Length measurement is accurate give or take a couple of metres. Cons: It’s quite huge. Uses up a lot of space in a backpack! The receiver unit seems to turn on very easily. Multiple times I’ve got it out my bag and the receiver unit is on and gone flat. No alternative fibre connection options. The screw on adaptors are for SC, unscrewing these allows you to insert an ST, but an adaptor for LC would be a great addition.

Incredibly useful for the price point
I work in offshore energy, working on a ship that has 1000s of network cables and fibre optics, I have found this cheap tool priceless for tracing, testing, locating, cable lengths, testing poe. DB loss on fo. Several colleagues have bought the same device after using mine. The vessel has basic fluke testers but as a contractor we don't get access to them, cost is prohibitive as a side tool. Usbc charging is a bonus, how many times I have pulled the old continuity tester out the draw with a discharged pp9 battery, try getting one offshore. Digital tracing has worked well isolating a cable in a bundle of 50+ cat6 cables, analogue I haven't found a use for. Cable length has been useful for identifying random unmarked cables running in ceiling panels that can't be traced, by eliminating cable hubs further away than cable length. There does appear to be a limit on length as I have never got a cable longer than 100m but I haven't had it long. Continuity is good for identifying poorly crimped RJ45 connector. Saved me 1000s of steps try to locate a dodgy connection. If you work with cat network cables this is a must. We use mainly FO ST bayonet connectors, adapters for this unit Can be found on ebay.

I wish it lived up to expectations
I had high hopes for this network cable tester, hoping that the additional features would be an all in one solution for quick network troubleshooting but sadly the unit I received failed to meet those expectations. I would like to highlight some positives for the working parts of the device, notably the continuity test is quick and reliable, with easy to understand output, cable tracking works extremely well with the adjustable sensitivity making it easy to find the cable you're looking for. Switch link speed was also reliable and quick to provide an output. Port flash works well and conveniently returns port number and mac, PoE testing also functions as expected. Switch link speed was also reliable and quick to provide an output. Now for the parts that weren't so great, cable length, this is extremely unreliable on my device, there are conflicting recommended ranges, with the description stating 2.5 - 200m and the manual stating 5m - 300m. I've attempted to test a number of runs of different length and noticed a number of issues, the tester offers yards, meters or feet as units, on a number of cables, only setting the device to yards provided an output, otherwise it would error out with Cable Open or beyond range. Cables within the combined recommended range (5m - 200m) occasionally failed to provide a length regardless of setting chosen, all cables tested were tested again using TDR on switches which provided accurate length information. Lastly IP Scan and Ping, the two features I was looking forward to using, sadly these were completely unreliable due to the inability to auto obtain an IP. Whilst it is possible to set your own IP, which does allow IP scan and Ping to function, albeit not consistently, the combined issues has led me to return this tester and stick to my current setup.
