About the Book A WONDERFULLY CREATIVE INSIGHT INTO THE LEGEND AND SYMBOLISM OF SHIVA AS A GOD AND HIS ROLE IN THE HINDU TRINITY ALONGSIDE VISHNU AND BRAHMA Shiva, สปthe destroyerสผ among the Hindu Trinity (of gods), is depicted in many contradictory manners. The author, Devdutt Pattanaik, introduces the readers to these varied aspects and representations and then sets about interpreting them. He explains the different anomalies and conflicts in beliefs, as well as the symbolism, rituals and reasons behind Hindu worship. Excellent Read!
Written in a simple and conversational style by Devdutt Pattnaik and presented on top-notch paper quality this book has been accompanying me for the past few days, unraveling every conceivable detail a novice (me) may seek about Lord Shiva! What's not to love? The 7 Secrets of Shiva is the first huge step that has surely kindled my curiosity to know so much more, because it explains the stories, and symbolisms that we have heard while growing up, but never had anyone explain to us in great detail. It's been a delightful journey so far, and though a few pages remain, I'm elated to have discovered this gem. Actually, more grateful than elated.

A readable book on Baba Bholenath!
Seven Secrets of Shiva is a concise book about Lord Shiva and the stories and metaphors related to him. It also contains tales related to his family, i.e., Goddess Shakti, Lord Ganesha, and Kartikeya. The language of the book is easy to read. It also contains several pictures of Lord Shiva in his various forms. I strongly recommend this book on Bholenath to not only his devotees but also to those who are eager to learn about the eternal religion, i.e., Hinduism. The book is divided into the following seven chapters: โข Lingeshwara's Secret โข Bhairava's Secret โข Shankara's Secret โข Bholenath's Secret โข Ganesha's Secret โข Murugan's Secret โข Nataraja's Secret

Grammar and Spelling mistakes
The concept are covered with Herbert very basic English. But informative as a beginner. Not proofread before publishing, as there consistent and potential spelling mistakes can be noticed while going through the entire book .

Good read...Changes your prespective and makes you think
Nice read...This is the first book of it's kind that helped me understand the soul of pauranic symbols and Katha...some will stimulate the mind and make you admire and appreciate the underlying thought process, while few may seem like deliberate attempt to draw meaningfull insight of events that does not seem to demonstrate sufficient depth. It feels like Puranic kathas have also evolved with time and though, intially it reflected deeper sense and meaning, later parts were added to which scholars have tried to add meaning...(I am not subject matter expert and may be completely wrong in my inference) But overall a very good read...Many thanks to Devdutt Patnaik for deciphering the misundertood concepts for a layman like us

The Mythology behind Shiva
This book was my introduction to Devdutt Pattanaik. He has helped me understand Shiva and for that I am most grateful. His writing is beautiful and shows deep understanding into this subject. I have become a disciple of his and now addicted to elegant style by reading more of his great works. I am indebted to him for clearing my mind of confusion regarding Indian Mythology and look forward to the next book.

Splendid intro to Lord Shiva.
Every sentence provokes though! Really helped me understand the concepts of maya, culture vs nature, and that Shiva is full of empathy and kindness. Destroyer of fear, deconstructor of our imagined realities. Great insight into Parvati as Shakti and also as Durga, Kali, and Ganga. The great Goddess. Also loved the discussion of Ganesha and Kartikeya. Dr Pattanaik is wonderfully adept with words and includes many photographs of art to interpret for fuller understanding. Worth reading multiple times!
