Shure Sm57 - Unidirectional Dynamic Microphone

This is a microphone which is suitable for all jobs. As mentioned in other reviews, it is widely used for drumkits and guitar amps etc, but as it was first designed for classical instruments, it can be used very effectively for acoustic instruments as well. I use it for performances with acoustic instruments (and/or voice) and live electronics (max/msp, ableton etc) and it works flawlessly. It feels (and is) sturdy and it is very sexy on the touch! Overall an absolutely fantastic microphone for the money, which can easily stand up to its reputation.

Recorded a full album with this - vocals and all instruments. It did a wonderful job. Fairly hardy mic - a tad heavy on the bass (I have a bass y voice anyway) but aon the whole -every studio should have one of these mics. I doubt I would use it for live gigs as it's not as sturdy and roadworthy as it's brother the 58 - but has that bit more class when recording a multitude of sounds.

I video and record myself for my youtube channel with my guitar and this microphone does a fantastic job of recording my guitar sound especially for the price.

High quality product, professional quality with the benefit of low cost, if you are need recording guitar, drums and vocal, this one for you, be aware of the sensitive buzz sound when you put it near AC power source, but that's typically normal.

good quality but mouth must be close to mic to obtain volume although this may be due to the low power amplifier

I have been working with Sure microphones for quite a while and they are really good so enaugh about them, i ordered it yesterday and it was delivered today, the fastest delivery i have ever had considering that i live in channel islands. I would suggest this mic for everyone who wants a good quality sound from their instruments.

This mic is used at every live show and in every studio in the world. On snare drums and guitar cabs everywhere for decades. It's not even very expensive. Buy it from a reputable dealer as there are a lot of phoney cheap rip off copies out there.
