Similar to an earlier version
Trapping feral kitties who set up their tiny trio on my porch for TNR. Set up two traps for the mother daughter duo. As the stray, meaning dumped male, Sylvester, asked to come in the house to the kennel rather than walk into the carrier. He’s had a successful vet appointment. For the traps, set two up next to each other. The cats are use to me calling them for food. Upon working in their habits since November to make trapping easy. Today’s the day. Cat walked in this trap. Toward the wild caught sardines. Trap didn’t close. Cat walked out. As though she suspected something. Despite the traps being outside tied open for a month until we could get an appointment. Trap hack for quick release, add Vaseline to the hinge when set. Experienced trapper taught me this to help. Compared to the older version this trap is a little harder to close leaning on the floor panel. Upon setting have tested the trap a few times. Compared to the other that’s not been used yet this one requires more weight. Added wild caught tuna to the older trap. It closed easy peasy. Easily nabs the little lady. She feels so safe on the porch from working on grooming the cats for this event she didn’t wince when it shut. Kept enjoying her tuna. Meaning less stress for her. She didn’t freak when I walked up to cover her with a baby sheet. The only thing that the trap, old or new, doesn’t have is a clip to hold the gate closed. A friend lent me a trap that has a clip. Used a piece of wire to tie it shut. Since Tschuss tried to slip out. Her name means goodbye in German. The kitties aren’t very hefty despite eating well this winter. This one kitty probably weighs about eightish pounds and is less than a year. Maybe nine months. Tschuss was on the panel that should have helped shut the trap. Added more Vaseline and hoping this new trap works for kitty number two by tomorrow night for their Thursday appointment. Happy with the trap configuration. Like that the back opens and has a wire clip to create a sturdy back end. Easy to set. Only issue is the trap requires a little extra pressure to close. Hoping this next kitty will full court pressure the panel to help the cage close. Good deal. Should work long term when nabbing other kitties when they show up for TNR.

Five squirrels in 3 days
Five squirrels in 3 days. Pretty good for less than $30! Easy setup! Tip: put a rock or something to keep it stable. Several times I found the trap closed but no squirrel; I suspect they were checking it out and bumped the trap in the process. Have not had this happen since I started adding some weight.

Handy Little Trap - a couple flaws
I was grateful to be able to get this humane trap overnighted to use to trap an abandoned 8 week old kitten that was being evasive. I put a piece of the cardboard box it came in the bottom, with a trail of wet food to lure her in, and a tiny bowl of food on the far side of the trap-release plate, and had her in 5 minutes. The trap comes fully assembled, and is simple to set up. It effectively worked for a tiny, light, kitten. My only complaints involve the door itself: • the release tab can with the force of trapping, slip into the trap, rather than catch on the roof as it is meant to, meaning you have to put your finger into a very small opening with a frightened, desperate animal in order to release it. A Phillips head screwdriver might help as it is, but it should be redesigned a smidge longer by the manufacturer. • a slightly larger animal could potentially be injured by the force of the dropping trap door. It needs to be softened somehow to avoid tail tips being chopped off. • the door, when set open, simply sits too low. The animal may have to duck to get in. No way to adjust this on your own, better hope the critter is very hungry. ***Please note this is a VERY SMALL trap, for animals the size of kittens and squirrels - other reviewers have complained, but the measurements are clearly described in the listing and are accurate.

Chipmunks don't stand a chance!!!!
The night the trap arrived—3:58 PM on a Sunday—the sky hung low and heavy, like it knew something was about to go down. I opened the box, and there it was: cold metal, quiet attitude, the kind of contraption that doesn’t ask questions… it just waits.By 9:19 AM the next morning, we already had our first perp. Then our second. Then our third. One chipmunk at a time, each caught red‑pawed and looking like they’d been framed by fate itself. My husband—my partner in this gritty backyard operation—made the breakthrough. He leaned in, squinting like a detective who’d seen too much. “Put the bait under the trigger,” he muttered. A simple trick. A deadly one. Forced every chipmunk to step right onto the trigger bar like they were walking into their own confession. The door snapped shut. Case closed. Justice served. No harm done, though. Each suspect got a two‑mile chauffeured ride to a new neighborhood, where they could start fresh, maybe rethink their life choices, maybe stop terrorizing my bird feeders. This trap? It’s not just a tool. It’s a legend in the making. yes I used AI to write this. But in all seriousness, this works VERY WELL for smaller animals. A little peanut butter and stuck a couple of shelled peanuts to it. We're catching them one after the other. We don't want to hurt them. But they've collapsed out patio and are destroying everything we've spent thousands to maintain. They gotta go. I also caught a red squirrel. We don't mind them and let him go back into the yard.

Dangerous, flimsy piece of junk.
Warning: This trap is the biggest piece of junk I have ever ordered from Amazon and a death trap for any animal captured in it. It is flimsy, hard to assemble and cannot possibly worked as described. I have used other traps of this type and there's no way this one works to safely trap feral cats or other animals of a like size. I have to wonder if this is a bait-and-switch situation with this product and this manufacturer. The photos included by other purchasers in the description look nothing like the trap I received. I am sorry that I cannot give it no stars. The wires of the trap are smaller and flimsier than the wires on my bird cages and bend readily with just finger pressure. The trigger plate in the bottom is about the thickness of two layers of aluminum foil and bent at a 90 degree angle the first time I tried to set the trap. Additionally, the "hinges" (material bent around a wire of the trap) on this plate are so tight the plate does not move when pressed down but the plate readily bends in the middle whenever pressure is applied. The rear door does not close properly and will allow struggling animals to get heads or limbs stuck under or around the sides of the door. The wires are sharp, jagged and cut my arms in several places while I was trying to assemble and set this trap. A trapped animal would be badly injured while struggling in the trap. Unfortunately for me, when this order arrived I did not immediately open the box and look at the product. I assumed this trap would be at least functional and I put it away until I needed it. Therefore, I am stuck with this piece of junk and cannot return it. I cannot stress enough how dangerous I believe this trap is to the animals captured in it.

Effective
Great trap, we had a squirrel problem in my back porch in the city, digging my planters and making a mess, chewing into stuff and destroying bird feeders, in a 3days we got 3 squirrels, my husband relocated them far away in the woods, it’s easy to set up and effective.

Sensitive trip
It’s a pretty solid trap, all made of steel, absolutely no plastic anywhere. However, the trip mechanism is extremely sensitive, and cause it’s so light, the squirrels drag it to try and get the peanut bait, and the door slams shut! I have to put that concrete block to hold the cage down! The wind blows and the door slams! On the fence with this one!

Proof is in the varmint!
Worked quick!! Tip: use peanut butter on the trigger pad to hold items in place. In our case, that was the blueberries that this little guy was feasting on. Checked that afternoon and all the food was gone and our little friend was safely caught. Release was easy! It took less than ten minutes to figure out the set up before we put it out. The proof is in the varmint!! Keeping for future needs!
