Echo Studio (Newest gen) | Our best-sounding Wi-Fi and Bluetooth smart speaker ever | Dolby Atmos, spatial audio, smart home hub | Glacier White, with Alexa+ Early Access

Having a number of Amazon Alexa devices around the home the Echo Studio has been on my radar for a long time and I have read the Spec and reviews too many times to count and on each occasion a review of one type or another plus the price has stopped me from purchasing. Until now when I decided it was time to trial them for myself rather than be swayed by others and how pleased I am with my decision. With my own experience of buying other Amazon Alexa devices and paired them for listening to music I was never going to buy just one Echo Studio so bit the bullet and decided to buy a pair. Amazon delivered the next day so there was no anxious waiting around for them to arrive. They came extremely well packaged, not the shipping packing - this was actually quite poor considering the value and type of the product, the actual speakers came double boxed and in Amazon cloth bags to help lift them out as they are weighty. They have a real quality feel and look. I do agree with other reviews that the power cable needs updating but that’s my only criticism about the overall look. Before buying I compared the other speakers available and these appeal to me more than anything else out there regardless of price. Unboxed and plugged in, they paired seamlessly with our network and Amazon account and connection took less than 5 minutes including an update they self performed. The sound quality is superb and we haven’t even pushed them over 50% as they are loud. A quick look at the Alexa app and a tweak on the EQ to suit my personal treble & bass choice and to pair them, not just together but with our Amazon fire stick and we sat back just to enjoy ‘all round perfection’ whilst watching tv via the fire stick. We moved onto streaming some music tracks via Amazon Prime and Apple Music and were pleasantly surprised by the rich tones and extremely clear sound quality. I reached out to Amazon for a suggestion re a good make of Optical cables and a Optical powered splitter in prep to link our tv to the Echo Optical input/s (you need two optical cables as a single cable will not provide sound to both speakers hence the required splitter too). Amazon suggested to purchase ‘any good quality cables and a powered splitter is recommended if the total cable length between the TV and both Echo Studios is more than 10 feet’. I only wanted to purchase a powered splitter anyway and found a nice triple output version with an additional 0.5mtr cable and a 5v USB power cable included with two 1.5 mtr Optical cables ordered too I would be all set to go when they arrived. I was apprehensive with this set up as I had read so many reviews whereupon others had experienced problems setting up this type of Optical connection. My purchases arrived today and within 5 minutes everything was set up. I had already changed the tv output to optical because I had set up the optical tv out to a LG Sound bar (which to be honest wasn’t good and the sound lag was awful) so having now set up the Echo Studios with the tv I could wait to see what we faced? I couldnt be more happy I was blown away with the sound quality. All the problems I had read about that other people say they experienced was not what I was now experiencing. I kept the tv running and just asked Alexa to play music and it switched perfectly and when that song finished I simply said ‘Alexa stop music’ and it switched back to the tv with no problem. It’s worth pointing out that the tv remote stops working the sound up/down/mute but you simply just voice control it and there is no voice lag between the tv picture and the Echo speakers unlike when using the sound bar. With the 3rd output on the splitter I can even plug in a set of headphones whereas I couldn’t do that prior as I had no headphone output via the tv. Cost of the 2 x cables £19.98 and the splitter £15.99 and worth every penny for the sound quality we are now getting via the Echo set up. And to top it all off the Echo Studios still work perfectly when asking Alexa to do anything (obviously the tv sound stops whilst this takes place but thereafter it simply switches back to tv sound. I have no cons what so ever my only two regrets are not buying during Black Friday to save a few bob and for not buying before now. The pros are quality sound now from the tv and streaming music and the two Echos are connecting to my iPad & Samsung phone to play music perfectly via Bluetooth. So if you are in doubt about trying & buying just do it and see for yourself if they fit the bill for your needs. There’s a lot of help out there if you get stuck with set up or what accessories work and worse case scenario if you don’t get on with them you have time to simply return them. I’m glad I took the gamble to try them for myself and I now have all round sound perfection from these great Echo Studio Speakers.

The sound quality of this echo rivals the likes of Bose and Sonus for studio quality sound. Given the fairly small size, the bass booms through the woofer filling the house. The mids and highs sound brilliant too. Volume level 5 is already loud, not even going to try volume 10! The excellent price point of this echo gives rival brands a run for their money with this very high quality device. I have replaced my current Bose speaker with this echo. It looks very sleek and elegant too. Excellent alexa controls that make using the device an absolute breeze. This is my first echo device and not regretting buying one after the first week. (Wait for the next prime day or Black Friday for excellent reduction in price)

The Echo Studio in Glacier White is, without a doubt, a sonic powerhouse. It delivers some of the most remarkable sound quality I've experienced in quite some time. The booming bass and impressive audio depth truly stand out, making it a top choice for music lovers. However, there's a significant caveat - it doesn't perform as seamlessly when connected to a TV due to voice sync delays. This synchronization issue was a major disappointment for me. If you're considering the Echo Studio for a home theater setup with your projector or TV, I'd advise against it. On the flip side, for regular use as Bluetooth speakers for audio, podcasts, and non-visual content, they excel. In summary, the Echo Studio is your go-to choice for an audio feast but falls short for TV enthusiasts looking for seamless voice sync. Make your choice accordingly. While the Echo Studio delivers exceptional sound quality, it's worth noting that there's room for improvement in the realm of voice recognition. One particular quirk is that you can't simply say, "Alex, turn the volume down." Instead, you have to add a slight pause after saying "Alexa," like "Alexa... [pause] turn the volume down." This requirement for a pause can be a bit frustrating, and it's an area where the device could certainly be more intuitive.

I love this speaker, I initially bought one in June, I set it up listened to a lot of music and fell in love with this speaker. I’m afraid to say I’m very much invested in the Amazon ecosystem with Alexa’s in almost every room and Prime music subscription too, Amazon has put a dedicated HD/Atmos and 3D music select together for a good few genres and I search using the app as I find I discover more music that way. I love the sound of this speaker so much I purchased a second one a month later and set them up as a stereo pair, this made a massive difference to the audio experience and I would highly recommend anyone who love’s music to add that second one, you truly get a great stereo experience and I can certainly hear the difference having the pair. My next purchase will be the fire tv cube and I will set the pair of studio speakers up as a surround sound system for the tv, I know you can also add an additional subwoofer but at this moment in time I don’t think I need it and the bass and sub sounds are incredible as a pair. Are there any downsides, a few. When I just had the one it was close to a wall and the in built listening system linked to the 3D audio would suppress the vocals and ruin the experience, to fix it I’d re start the track and it fixed the issue, for a better fix for the single speaker was to disable the 3D spatial audio and that cleared the issue, but as soon as I got the pair I didn’t get the issue re occurring. Love it and highly recommend a pair.

Bought this echo Studio using Amazons Trade in offer so i paid £141 and i'm really pleased with the result. In a 5 meter x 4 meter room the sound is really rich and i opted to ignore the advice to stand it away from the wall due to space constraints but the audio is still very high quality. (my old stereo will be retired) I haven’t linked it up to the tv or any other device as i’m very happy with it as it is. Setup was simple enough, i already had the Alex app installed on my phone so it was just a case of plugging in the Studio, allowing it to run its own initial setup then following the instructions to complete installation on my phone. (I had selected the option to link it to my account before delivery). The only drawback for me was that the power lead was too short at only 1.5 meters so i bought another at 2.0 meters. Even at full price i would still recommend the Echo Studio (43” TV for scale)

UPDATE: So I've given these speakers another couple of weeks for testing and after completely resetting the system and moving the speakers to a different position when they go through the initial sound set up I did find a slight improvement in sound quality. This was mostly noticeable when paired to a 4k Firestick as a Home Cinema setup. Switching back between these speakers and my 2 Echo 4th Gens there was a real improvement for films and tv with a better separation of sound, stronger bass and clear voice. So for a home cinema setup I would rate these 3.5 - 4 stars. Sadly however they still sound worse than my stereo paired echo 4th gens when listening to music. The midrange is just lost. I would say that maybe 1 out of 10 tracks sounds as good or slightly better on the studios but all the rest are far better on the the cheaper speakers, so it's 2 out of 5 stars for music. I've decided to bump my original review score up to 3 stars from 2 but I'm still really surprised by the 5 star reviews. Perhaps I had 2 faulty speakers but that seems unlikely. Maybe if you have just one speaker these are the best option but personally I'd go for 2 echo 4th gens instead of 1 of these. ORIGINAL REVIEW: After reading a lot of reviews and watching many videos I was really looking forward to upgrading my two Echo 4th gens to the new Echo Studio speakers. Ultimately I was left very disappointed. I'll start with the Pros, there was a definite boost to bass, especially the lowest frequencies. There is also better separation in the sound stage, however this was often at the loss of volume. So whilst certain instruments and sounds could be picked out more clearly it gave the impression that the sound was coming from further away which didn't always work. When compared to my Echo 4th gens, (where the soundstage is tighter like the musicians are much closer together), the overall impression from the 4th Gens is far more immediate and pleasing to my ears even though the sounds are a little less defined. The cons, so where these speakers really disappoint is with the midrange. Even when tweaking the EQ settings it sounds like the midrange is pointing away from you and vocals sound distant and hollow, like the person is in an empty room. On balance I couldn't justify the "upgrade" because to my ears the standard Echos were far more immediate and pleasing with only a slight loss of separation and bass. To be honest I'm really surprised by all the positive reviews

I own a fair of top quality hifi gear and have a very critical ear. I have to say the sound quality of this is amazing. I got it on prime day for about £160 and to be honest, I'd be happy if I paided double. I'm looking to get a second one to add as a stero pair. They are loud without distorting, rich bass and well balanced. I listen through tidal and Spotify. There is a slight degredation in sound via Bluetooth as to be expected, but nothing significant. It's a nice feature to have... if there was a battery option I'd love it.

Had the Echo Studio now for a few weeks and I can only report back in my review just how impressive the Studio is. The sound quality is very much on par with high end studio monitors that cost 3 or 4 times the amount of the price of an Echo Studio. The only minor gripe I have is when it comes to setting up a home cinema working with the firestick 4k max, while it's simple to pair the studio and firestick using the alexa app, achieving Dolby Atmos sound isn't straightforward because of the limitations of the Bluetooth connection from the firestick to the studio, making Dolby Digital Plus the only available sound format.
