12x42 Compact Binoculars for Adults - High Powered HD Binoculars for Birds Watching, Hunting, Concerts & Sports

The pack comes with the binoculars, a storage pouch, a shoulder strap and cleaning cloth for the binoculars, and then all the gubbins that comprise the tripod feature for taking photos using your phone. As standalone binoculars they’re pretty decent, with good focus, comfortable to hold with a solid grip and a satisfying weight. There are two options for focus, the usual turn dial in the middle (Center Focus) and another independent turn dial on the right lens (Diopter). I really cannot fathom why it’s designed like that as the right turn dial only changes the focus of the right side. I’m sure there’s a logic but no idea what it is. On both sides of the ocular eye lens it is designed to be a twist-up eyecup, supposedly a feature for those wearing glasses. Personally, I’ve found the binoculars to be more comfortable when this eyecup is twisted out to its full extension. Problem with these is they’re far too loose and it’s too easy to push them back inadvertently. On to the tripod setup. It’s certainly quite a cumbersome process to get your phone in the right place and attached to the left lens. Yes, eventually you will achieve the optimal position and it is possible to take telescopic photos with your phone, via the binoculars. But I found the whole process to be a real pain and simply cannot see the point when you could just buy a decent pocket camera with telescopic lens. Phone cameras are handy and you can certainly take some great photos, but they’re no comparison to a simple point and shoot dedicated pocket camera - if you’re serious about photography then you already know this. The other issue with the tripod setup is it’s just not that stable and quite tricky to move the camera shot into the desired position. The slightest breeze and there is camera shake. Hardly conducive to taking zoomed in shots. If it were possible, I’d review this product in two halves: solid 4 stars for the binoculars and 2 stars for the tripod setup.

🔹INTRO & DESCRIPTION🔹 I love nature and wildlife, so when I got the chance to try out and review the Adorrgon 12 x 42 compact binoculars, I was delighted. The come boxed with a range of accessories which include :- Padded case Padded neckstrap Desk tripod Tripod mount Smartphone adaptor Lens cleaning cloth Instruction leaflet & a lifetime warranty 🔹OPINION🔹 I have had many pairs of binoculars over the years ranging from low to mid price. I have never owned any of the premium top of the range binoculars. I had the perfect opportunity to try out these binoculars during the recent RSPB Big Garden Birdwatch. The 12x magnification was perfect for observing the birds on my birdfeeders, and I was also able to pick up on any potential sightings lurking in my neighbours' trees and on the TV aerial. The images were crisp and clear with a good amount of light. The binoculars were comfortable to hold and not too heavy. The focusing was straightforward What I liked :- 🐦 Good clear image. 🐦 Lightweight. 🐦 Nice padded case & strap. 🐦 Good clear instruction leaflet which you don’t need binoculars to read ! 🐦 Lifetime warranty. 🐦 Protection cups on the lower end are attached to the binoculars, so less chance of losing them. 🐦 Protection cups on the top are joined, making them less likely to get lost and quicker to remove/put back. 🔹CONCLUSION🔹 I cannot think of anything negative to say about the binoculars themselves. The accessories are okay, particularly the mini tripod. I have had a go with the smartphone adapter, but didn’t get particularly pleasing results, but I will give it another try. As a birdwatcher these are ideal for either watching the birds in my garden, or taking with me on trips to hides. I am hoping to visit Leighton Moss shortly to watch the starling murmuration, and when I do, these binoculars will definitely be coming with me. They would make an ideal gift for a nature loving friend, or would make a perfect retirement gift to maybe encourage someone to get outdoors more often. I think they would be equally suited to watching sports. They are currently priced at £39, which I think is excellent value for such a capable pair of 12 x 42 binoculars. In the old days, binos were big clunky things, we have a pair, over 50 years old, in a real leather case, from Grandad when he passed. And then we have these wee things, worlds apart, except the bit that matters - what you see through the lens. Very little difference when you look through one, and then the other. I wonder will these last 50+ years though, I hope so, everything should be built to last these days, as we have technology and knowledge to do a better job than 50 years ago... At least Adorrgon give you a lifetime warranty (lifetime pertinent to how long the company is up and running, but that goes without saying). Anyway - they look and feel robust. Not too heavy (no fun carrying a 2kg pair of binos around!) so I can literally 'pop them in my handbag' which I certainly wouldn't with the other giant pair. These are so portable, and you get a cute little tripod. The carry bag is okay, it takes the binos with strap attached but you can't fit the tripod in, would've been great if they'd made the bag just a tad bigger to accommodate the tripod for ease of use. Personally I don't like the big loud silver brand logo on the strap. The instruction manual gets a big tick because you don't have to squint or get out my magnifying glass out, first page tells you what is covered in the 'lifetime warranty'. Then 12 pages of easy to follow instructions written in good clear English. So if you've never bought a pair before, then this is a good place to start, why spend heaps of dosh on an expensive item that you'll hardly use, when you can get a pair for £35 that will do a very adequate job.
