Mechanical Seal, Cleanout Pipe Plug 1-1/2 to 1-3/4 in

We had a basement window that we wanted to be able to put a drain hose through when an extra sump pump is needed during rainy weather. We cut a circular hole in the plexiglass and this plug works perfectly to close up the hole when the hose is not needed. It was very simple to install. You just put it in a turn the handle until the plug is snug.

Must have cleanout sewer plug! Attached image is the 4" lead cap i had previously used. Needless to say, the lead cap rubber would get warped when hammering the cap off to clean out trap and sewer smell leak out. I searched diligently online for replacement cap and stumbled upon this cap. I ordered oatey 4" plug which ironically did not fit. Apparently the 4" pipe is not exactly 4 inches. The fact that this plug fits 3.9"+ is fantastic. Manually tightening it is a plus as well. Cleanup will be a breeze moving forward and the rubber will be easier to clean when removing the plug to clean out my trap. Highly recommend and worth the money.

I have a drain pipe on my spring box that must be some old drilling pipe. It was built in the 1950's. I managed to remove the old plug so I could clean out the spring box but I couldn't find a replacement. 2" NPT was too small and 2 1/2" NPT was too big ... nothing worked. So I bought this, inserted it into the pipe, and twisted the handle a dozen times or so and it plugged the drain perfectly.

The size was just right — it fit my pool plug perfectly and sealed up without any issues. It seems to be made of decent materials and looks well-built at first glance. However, I’m not fully sure about the durability yet. I’ll have to see if it actually holds up over the winter. So far, it works fine, but time will tell how long it lasts.

Excellent quality hefty product! Very well made. Solved my issue trying to replace the rusted screw in cap on my 110 year old clean out. Well worth the cost.

Works great. We have not had any water back up since using this product. Easy to install and remove. Definitely would recommend

But issue is it only works on a couple size pipes. No good for a bathtub overfill no good for anything to do with the kitchen.

I bought this to plug our dryer vent in case of flooding. Hurricane Ian put 16” of water in our home in FL! We now have flood barriers but must also plug the drummer vent which exits our block home about 2” above floor. With the large handle, it’s possible to tighten by hand and seal. It worked during H Milton where water was 6” over floor level! All storm surge fro Gulf which is 15 miles downstream!

...and easy to use.
