Fuel Level is Important
Opened these from the package and assembled easily enough with the instructions included in the package. Was a little nervous that I was building a Molotov cocktail so I only filled fuel 1/2 the belly of the bottle. Was so frustrated that the wick would not stay lit, even after a long soak. I returned to the amazon page and read reviews....... repeatedly saw that the bottle must be completely filled with fuel. Added more fuel to my bottle (be careful because re-entering the wick can cause your bottle to over flow). VOILA! It worked! They stay lit now and are super attractive. Fuel level is important! I'm giving this review only 3 stars on easy to use because I did have to do some investigating about the fuel level.

Great product
These are easy to make and a beautiful look in the yard. Made smaller and larger ones. I have bought 8 of these now and made several throughout the yard. Looks gorgeous at night and keeps the bugs away.

Very pretty- hard to use
Like other reviewers say- these are hard to get to work. The materials are very pretty and durable- but the wicks are not held tightly by the brass fittings and the brass fittings are loose in any wine bottle. You'd need to use several rubber gaskets to make them a tight fit. Also- be aware that the wicks can't keep up with the flame once the oil level gets too low. I got around this by filling the wine bottle half way with sand (having an entire liter of oil per bottle seems over kill to me). I then cut the wicks so they would rest on the sand and stick out the top of the brass fitting. I tried presoaking the wicks but that didn't over come the oil level issue for me. I had to keep the oil level within a couple inches of the top of the wick for them to work.

So far the most complete Tiki Torch kit
To date this the most complete Tiki Torch kit I have used. It came with the snuffers. These worked perfectly for wine bottles and whiskey bottles. As you can see I took the top part of the bottle cork lid , drilled a hole just large enough for the ball chain to fit through then glued the top onto the snuffer to maintain the originality to the bottle top.

Doesn't stay lit for more than 30 seconds
I have given these almost an entire year to change my mind. They are horrible. I purchased these last summer with the hopes to make use of some of the wine bottles I've collected. Out of the package they assembled very easily and fit my wine bottles well. After letting the wicks soak up the Tiki oil for a few minutes, we attempted to light them. They burned out in a matter of seconds. It's the same story every single time we try to light them. It catches quickly and extinguishes just as quickly. We have torches and other table top vessels that work perfectly fine with the same oil. These are the only ones that will not hold a flame. Don't waste your money.

Over 10% of the reviews say they won't stay lit-merchant says nothing.
At the time I wrote this review this product had 40 reviews. More than 10 of them reported problems with the wick not staying lit. Yet not a single reply from the merchant. Well I'm here to add myself to the growing number of people having a problem with this wick. I've made every possible attempt to eliminate MYSELF or anything I'm doing wrong as the possible cause for this, but this isn't exactly rocket science. Especially when you're used to dealing with tiki torches. It seems there is a problem with either the material (I assumed these are made of fiberglass like the original tiki torch replacement wicks) or the length of these wicks. My project required 3 bottles of various heights, all placed in an outdoor floor lantern. I had 2 of the larger-sized wine bottles you see in the stores sometimes, and a shorter liquor bottle. I approached all the same way. I filled the bottles with tiki torch fluid, put the rubber band on, placed the wick in the holder, let it soak, then lit them. The wick in the smaller liquor bottle lit right away and continued to burn until we put it out hours later. The two wicks in the wine bottles did the same thing others have reported; lit, burned for a minute or less then started to rapidly die out. Determined to figure out whether this was a problem with the wick, the bottle or the fuel, I took the wick out of one of the taller bottles and placed it into a smaller liquor bottle, filled with the same liquid in the taller wine bottle. I followed the same steps, placing one rubber band on the bottom and sticking it into the bottle. This time the wick lit right up and stayed lit util I snuffed it out. Then I came back to the Amazon listing where I'd purchased it from looking for the link to leave a review. It was then that I saw there were actually instructions on the listing (there is NOTHING in the package they send you, which in my opinion is just plain lazy). I saw that in all of the pictures there were two or 3 rubber bands placed on the holder. Thinking that must be what I'm doing wrong I immediately went back to my tall wine bottle, placed 2 rubber bands on the holder, poured a little fluid on the top of the wick and waited for it to soak up. I went back more than a half hour later and tried lighting it again. Same thing happened; it lit, then immediately started to die out. I would have tried adjusting with wicks a bit, but that's the other problem. These holders don't hold the wick snug, so if you try to put it up a bit it just falls back into the bottle. I'm no scientist, but I can't figure out for the life of me why the size of the bottle would make a difference of the fuel is good and the wick is good. But apparently it does. And since the wicks technically work in other bottles, it's hard for me to take too many stars away. But what I have a problem with is the apathy that the merchant is showing. There is absolutely no instructions or tips of any kind in the package they send out. More importantly though, more than 10 percent of the reviews being posted on this are reporting that the wicks are dying out and won't stay lit. Yet there is no response from the seller whatsoever. There are many others on Amazon selling this same kit. You may be better off buying it from someone is actually showing they GAF about the opinion of the people who spend their money with them.

Best way to use old bottles
My fiance and I are big bourbon fans and we had a few empty Blantons bottles that we didn't want to get rid of because they look so nice. We were trying to figure out what to do with them when we found these. Now we have the best looking "tiki" torches I have ever seen.

So far so good!
After reading the reviews that stated that they had a hard time keeping the wick lit, I soaked the wick in the actual bottle of fluid from both ends before inserting in to my decorative bottle. The reviews stated that the bottle of fluid should be fairly full as you can see mine is pretty full well nearly to the top. And order to use this bottle I did need to find a different fitting from my garage to make this work. I also added a washer below the fitting just for a little added security for me. So far I really like the look of it and it seems like it's going to work for what I need it which is to chase away mosquitos in the daytime. I also decided to just kind of cram the wick into the bottom of the bottle as the wick from the top of the bottle just to the bottom of the bottle seemed like I would go through it fast and would need to replace the wick faster.

La primera vez funcionó bien, la segunda vez que los usé, todos se apagan a pesar de sacarles más o menos mecha y ahúman. Use aceite de citronella recomendado por el mismo fabricante o Amazon. Termine usando velas.

These are perfect! I used a SKY Vodka bottle, some white rocks from the dollar store for filler & sturdiness. Burns perfect & well made.

Also viel Spaß beim Basteln!

So far so good. Not tested it out fully yet! The only thing that concerns me is that the wick is loose and not tight around the bottle neck. Hoping the fibre glass wick keeps its rigidity…

Let the wicks soak in citronella for over a week and they would not light past the smallest flame. Long or short, I tried everything. The metal also rusted.
