Kingston DataTraveler Micro USB Flash Drive 256GB 200MB/s Metal USB 3.2 Gen 1 - DTMC3G2/256GB

This review is for a Kingston DataTraveler USB drive, 256GB. This device is tiny. It fits snugly in the USB port. It has a metal cover. I have been using this extensively since I bought it back in May. The drive is good. I have had no issues with it at all. The transfer speeds are acceptable, they are not the best but they are what you would expect from a device of this size and type. It never gets too hot, it can get a little warm but that is normal. It works perfect on Linux and Windows. I use it to transfer files between computers and OS'es, and it works great with both, it is universally compatible. It stays securely in the port when plugged in, and is easy to remove too. This has so far stood up to regular use and has proven to be reliable after over 6 months of daily use. I highly recommend this, it's good quality and while it is a little pricey, it's worth every penny. You are getting what you pay for. Even though, I still recommend regular backups just to be on the safe side. Never get complacent with your data.

Really impressed with the flash drive. I am using this to record dash videos from my car. Unlike other cards that I had tried before, it has worked really well. I haven't had any issues with the quality of the videos get stored. This is great piece of kit. Once, plugged in to the port, it is hardly visible. The metal casing makes the product sturdy.

I buy quite a lot of these (64GB) I find them large enough to back up my work files and at a reasonable price and speed plus they are a convenient size to wear on a neck strap. So far I've not had one fail.

Bought to fit in a BambuLab H2S printer as the port is in the top. The reason I used this one is because it's a very short USB stick, which makes it less likely to catch / break it in the port. It's made fully of metal, and Kingston have always been very good quality.

Capacity as stated. Found it difficult to insert and extract from some devices. Very small with a metal case which I personally quite like.

I've been through a number of USB drives over the years. Ones with caps (to lose), retractable ones (the mechanism breaks), plastic ones (the keyring hook breaks) etc.. I like to wear them on a lanyard round my neck at all times, as they contain my backups and utility programs. This one is hewn from real metal! And the keyring hole is not going to break, as it's part of the metal casing. And it has no need for a cap or to retract because it's full girth is the size of a standard USB plug. So, nothing can go wrong with the physical properties of the drive! Having 512gb of storage is great for my purposes. I did do some speed tests and I would say it performed below claimed speeds but in real-world use it's plenty fast for me. (I use it to store the last 6 weeks of backup 7-zip files from my computer every Friday. Transferring around 6.5gb of data / 10 7-zip files takes a minute or two, which works for me.) The drive is very small. Attached to my lanyard I see that as an advantage. But in other uses I suppose it could be quite easy to lose. But for me, the size and storage capacity for the cost make it a real winner and the best udb drive I've ever owned!

Good quality drive , which runs cool when idling in my radio . Fast for reading and writing data 😊

Works very well and a very neat size. Fits well and can be left in place as most of stick contained in lap-top USB port.

I’ve had one of these on my keys for a couple years now and I can’t recommend it enough. It’s very durable and very compact, I’ve never had it malfunction in the years I’ve been using it. It may not be the fastest drive but compactness and ruggedness is why you buy this flashdrive. I work in industrial automation and I always am making backups and transferring programs from one system to another. This keychain flashdrive has saved my bacon more times then one. I also keep several of my favorite movies on this flashdrive which you can then plug into the back of any smart tv and watch anywhere. My only recommendation to Kingston is to beef up the metal body end of the USB A- plug as it has deformed inward on me slightly a few times, nothing that couldn’t be straightened out easily with a flathead but I’d like to see it’s end look straight all the time and not have to worry about it before I plug it in. I hope Kingston will release a durable all metal keychain version of their dual end usb-A and usb-c flash drive soon as some laptops only support USB-C nowadays. But for now this works great for 95% of my needs. Can’t recommend enough!

Bought a pair of these to replace / increase my previous plastic 64 Gb thumb drives. Nothing to complain about. Note: The picture shows 64 Gb, but the product is in fact 128 Gb.
