Crescent Lufkin 1/4" x 6' Executive® Diameter Pocket Tape Measure | W606PD

I love this little guy. I have used it to measure pipe diameters but my primary use is purely to have a small tape measure on me at all times when I’m working. It’s small enough to entirely forget you have it in your pocket until you need it. Obviously, it isn’t the best tape measure for most jobs but it’s the best tape measure I’ve found for keeping in my pocket. It’s far better than all the other small ones I tried to use for the same purpose. It really is perfect for what I use it for and it’s an added bonus that it can do pipe diameters.

As pictured and described. Perfect for carrying in your pocket. It has an additional 3.5" on the leading end allowing for an ample area to grab and hold it without covering the starting 0-line on either side. Likewise on the opposite side with pipe diameters measured in 100ths. I suppose for precision measuring and alignment of the pipe circumference. The large numbers on that side refer to the the pipe diameter it fits around. I'm not a pipe fitter, so I really don't understand what this pipe circumference measuring system is designed for. I purchased the tape measure simply to have a 6' tape to carry in my pocket for general measuring when a big 12, 16, or 25' tape isn't handy or necessary. Amazing how useful a small tape measure like this is for everyday general needs! ...and it's metal case won't break or crush like the plastic ones do when you lean on something! This thing is perfect in every way! We recently did a few small remodel projects in our home. It seemed like every time I went to the store to shop I needed a measuring tape! I started carrying one and was using it quite frequently, but it was so bulky. I looked around on Amazon and found this. It is a little bit pricey, but completely worth it. I tried another product, but it was so small that the tape didn’t really work and it was more like a novelty item. That is not the case with this tape at all! It is extremely effective and the tape does not get stuck when trying to pull it out or retract it. It is strong and high quality. I’ve had several people ask to use it when I’ve broken it out in the store. :) Great item to have. Highly recommend!

This is an easy to read, quick diameter/circumference measuring tool. My only issue is that is seems to be off by about 10 Mil (0.010") when reading the diameter (at least when measuring an 18" circumference roller). The roller I measured appeared to be exactly 18" on one side of the tape. I verified this measurement with another tape as well. When reading the diameter using this tape, it read 5.72. If you use Pi to find the diameter of an 18" circumference you will get 5.729582791". I do not expect this tape to read out this type of accuracy, but the Pi solution is nearly 0.010" greater than the reading taken from this tape. I will have to do more testing, but if it is constantly -0.010" off, I can add that to the total value of the reading taken from this tape. It would be nice if the manufacturer could look into and correct this issue.

Love this tape! Super flat to easy to carry in your pocket. Makes it super simple to measure pipe diameter as well. The retractable feature is nice

Bought this for a recent survey I did and am so glad I bought this. Made data collection a breeze, no calculations necessary. A very fast easy way to see if you have a tree or sapling at DBH - or whatever you would measure the diameter of a tree for. I am glad that this diameter tape is now part of my delineation kit it won’t work for large trees, but where you’re debating sapling vs tree, it’s very handy. If you know you’re going to be dealing with large trees in a regular basis and need to measure them, there is forestry tape for that. This item is for smaller diameter trees.

Works perfect and seems durable. Easy to read. I wish there was a longer version.

I keep one in my pocket daily. I always seem to need one. Very handy, I've had one for two years I imagine it'll last longer than the plastic ones I used to carry, those would break after a few months. Small, portable steel tape measure that can come with you anywhere. It retracts well, mine hasn't failed me yet. I just bought another one as a spare to put in my small emergency toolkit.

Great for measuring pipe diameters. Tape is made of metal and is quite solid. My old tape got crushed between some heavy pipes. It still worked even though it was bent. Happy to replace it with this one.

Started to fall apart after 2 days requiring taping up to hold it together

Bought this to replace a worn out executive model (good sale price). I use this tape for HVAC layout and fabrication and have no complaints. The diameter side of this tape is graduated in hundredths of an inch, with tenths of an inch boldly marked. If you are not comfortable with decimal to fraction conversion in your head then I would recommend the other model (diameter side is graduated in 64ths of an inch).
